Rated 5 out of 5 by from Assembly suggestions Like others, we love this umbrella. Here are a couple of tips in assembly. 1. Like another reviewer, I loaded the sand (and a good spray of water) into 1 gallon zip-lock bags for the base rather than putting in sand directly. I had an old galvanized wash tub that I sat my sack of sand in and used a coffee can as a scoop. Each bag was about 2/3 full which worked well. I then topped off a few slots in the base that were a bit shallow with quart size bags. Used up the entire 200 pounds of sand. It probably adds over an hour more work to do it this way, but it will pay off when we want to move the umbrella by removing some of the bags. 2. Getting the umbrella pole into the base was a bit daunting for us two seniors. It's heavy. But we did it! The key for us was placing the pole end on the base hole. Walking the pole up onto the hole was our success. One held the pole end in place over the hole while the other walked the pole up vertically. The real trick is to push the pole up high holding onto the umbrella end that is hanging down. It dropped right in. Hope this helps some other 70 year olds:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good Have only had umbrella for a few weeks it o complaints so far. It definitely takes two people to assemble. The base needs 200 lbs. of sand and instead of just packing it in per the instructions we placed the sand in multiple baggies so if we decide to move the umbrella it will be easy to remove the sand, this was a suggestion by store sales associate and is a great idea. We look forward to many years of shade and as I said do far we are very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great umbrella! Wow, this umbrella is wonderful! It's very heavy and a bit tricky to get into the base, but once it's put together, it's really great. Sturdy, easy to adjust and, best of all, provides great shade to our very sunny deck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome umbrella I bought this side mount umbrella for my patio because I face west and have that hot afternoon sun. I love how it covers a large part of my patio. Great product and it really allows us to enjoy our space during the summer.

how does one move the umbrella after it is weighted?

Asked by: RKKK
I was able to move my weighted base on my own. I used a hand truck (the kind to move a refrigerator) around the side of the house without spilling sand. To get it up a stairway to a deck (4 steps up), I used an extension ladder as a ramp. The aluminum ladder is about 10' long when collapsed. I pushed the based onto the slightly inclined ladder from the hand truck and easily pushed and pulled the base up the stairway. My base goes on an 10" high wooden stand. I used the same ladder as a ramp to get the base up that 10" to its new home. Took several hours, but was able to move it without help. Sure beet emptying the sand and refilling later.

In with the umbrella cover was a four section stick. What is this used for?

Asked by: Bake
It's used for the cover... Piece the stick together (like a tent frame stick) and and slide it into the pocket near the zipper of the cover. Unless you're 8 feet tall you will need the stick in the cover in order to get it up over the top. Hope this helps!

What is the height of the hand crank in the open and in the closed position.

Asked by: smut
The crank on the 11' Round Side Mount Umbrella is approximately 40” from the ground which does not change when the umbrella is opened and closed.
