13' European Side Mount Umbrella is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase! I had seen the sun garden umbrella at the local patio shop, and loved it. Front gate beat the local retailers price by $300. We bought 2 for our pool area and they look elegant and awesome in the back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As promised.. We just received the umbrella and stand a few weeks ago but so far, so good. The umbrella and stand are as good a quality as promised in the catalogue. The assembly was reasonable, the instructions were clear and the umbrella and 'arm' function well. The umbrella is easy to open and the sliding arm is smooth. An excellent product and it is huge! It will definitely provide a lot of shade. We're very happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best umbrella ever! This umbrella is beautiful and easy to assemble. The canvas fabric is very thick and appears to hold up in inclement weather. We loved it so much when we assembled it, that we purchased a second one, but 2' smaller in diameter. Quality is top notch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit This is our 3rd side mount umbrella from Frontgate and this one is the best. We recently moved to a new home and sold our last umbrella to the new homeowner. This one is a perfect fit for our patio area and extends the number of hours a day that we can enjoy our outdoor space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE BEST UMBRELLA EVER !!! I would give this umbrella 10 stars if I could. I purchased this umbrella about 8-10 years ago & it is still in great shape (I do have a cover for it given the winters here in Chicago). I am now looking to buy another 1 or 2 to add to an enlarged patio & thought I would write a review regarding the test of time. It is amazingly well designed, easy to use & adjust and is very sturdy. In the past years, it did flip on me once, only because I had it all the way open in a 70 mph wind storm (my bad)! But the umbrella was fine & it was easy to put back into place without a struggle. I would recommend this umbrella to anyone. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but given all of the normal patio umbrellas we lost in winds - it pays for itself in a hurry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the price We have a south facing deck with absolutely no shade and desperately needed a very large umbrella. This umbrella is huge when opened-offers a tremendous amount of coverage over our 60 inch round table. You do need a large space though, as the stand itself is large and heavy when filled with gravel. We are very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb The largest side mount umbrella I could find. It covers a whole table and is very stable. An elegant addition to our pool deck.

how much sand should be purchased to fill the base?

Asked by: frh1
We recommend filling the 13' European Side Mount Umbrella base with five and a half 50 lb bags of pea gravel pebbles for best results.

Is the base included?

If not - can you suggest one that works with this umbrella? Also - how about a conver for storage. ONce it is in storage position, is there a cover included? If not - suggest options to price accodingly. Thank you.

According to the instruction manual on the bottom of page 4, it states that the base is not included? Whatis the correct answer?

I have this umbrella. It spins and moves with any breeze whatsoever.

Is there a trick to assembling this thing because it spins with every breeze that enters the yard, which is really annoying. We have "hand tightened" it a bunch of times. It seems the base screws in clockwise so whenever a breeze comes counterclockwise, it unscrews the base a little making the umbrella spin. Please help!
Asked by: RunnerMama
there is a small black knob at the bottom of the pole, not part of the base itself. To rotate umbrella, pull knob out, then turn this knob clockwise for a quarter turn--the knob will disengage from the pole, allowing you to turn umbrella. When it is positioned where you want it, pull the knob back out, rotate counter-clockwise a quarter turn; you will hear a slight click when it locks back into place. This is what prevents the umbrella from spinning in wind.

Would it be safe to put the umbrella on a dollie so it could be more easily moved?

Since the umbrella will be more than 300 lbs and the sun changes position throughout the day it would be helpful if the umbrella could be moved. The dollie would be heavy duty so it could hold full weight of umbrellas and base. Concerned that the whole thing might tip over if put on dollie. Does the umbrella canopy tilt on its own or does it only tilt by moving it down the arm? It would be great if you could put a video online of someone using the umbrella.

We don't have it on a dollie and I can move it without the help of my husband, we do just that, move it from one side to the other on the patio (I am also in NY and we track the sun with this thing). IT has worked wonderfully. We only filled with water, no sand. The umbrella only tilts by moving the arm. I agree, they need a video.

Who is the manufacturer of the umbrella and base?

Asked by: Gtsambis
If you click the "Instructions" link under the Overview section for this umbrella on the Frontgate website, you will see that it is a Sun Garden Easy Sun Parasol.
