20-inch Freestanding Barrier 4.7 5 314 342
Pet Gates are great. The pet gates are a big improvement over the baby gates we have been using. They were extremely easy to assemble and are working great. December 18, 2014
Perfect solution! Ordered 2 of these gates to block off areas of our house. They fit into the decor of our home and are easy to adjust and move as necessary. The best part is that we didn't have to drill hardware into the woodwork. Our dog is small so no worries about him jumping over, but we can easily step over the gate. Thank you, Frontgate, for having a product like this! December 9, 2014
Pet Barrier Perfect, was just what we wanted and thought we would have to have a custom gate for this spot. Great looking, quality and was shipped quickly. Thanks Frontgate for another amazing product. December 1, 2014
nice product I was tired of having a child gate leaned up against the walls to keep the dogs from sneaking down the hall way. Every time I went to step over it, I would catch my foot and about break my neck when it pulled the gate down. I just needed a gate that could be free standing but that was not five or six feet wide...I just had a hall way entrance to block. I found this gate...heavy, durable material that was easily assembled. Very nice in appearance, actually complements the rustic decor of the house. The walk through gate is easy to use and we now don't even latch it, just leave it closed...the dogs don't try it and we can get through even with our hands full. I would definitely recommend this product. November 22, 2014
Pet Barrier Very pleased with the looks, and performance of this gate, does what it should while looking good. November 18, 2014
Love this Gate. Ordered another one! Great product! Love this gate for our large doorways. We use it free standing although it can be attached to the wall if you choose. It is well made and can be adjusted to any size that is stated. Easy to assemble too. We use these to keep our medium/large size dogs out of our living room and dining room. Even though it states not for children, if we mounted to the wall, I would use for our grandchildren. The gate can lock and they would not be able to work the gate themselves. November 10, 2014
36" dog gate I got this dog gate 3 or 4 days ago. It was very easy to put together. The trickiest part was getting the boxes up the stairs. The boxes are not really heavy just awkward because of their size. The instructions took me a minute to understand but once I figured them out it was very simple. These gates come with very solid mounting hardware so they can be freestanding or mounted. Bonus. The gaps between the rails are 21/2" wide. The gate swings in one direction. I have two miniature schnauzer mixes that weight about 12 lbs. each and stand about 27" tall on their hind legs and they go crazy when they see a dog. There is no way they are going to knock these gates over and I have them freestanding. These also look great in my opinion. Our home was built in 2006 and this metal looks great with our existing metal railing (which is brown) on our front porch(yes I'm using them outside even thought they are intended to be indoor). The gate closures don't feel heavy duty but they are adequate. I bought 2 gates at first and I now just bought another. Very happy with my initial purchase. November 7, 2014
Gate lock faulty The lower sliding lock is not long enough to reach receptacle in frame. Your customer service rep is sending a replacement. October 30, 2014

Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. The Freestanding Barrier does have rubber feet on the bottom to help provide traction and make it less likely to slide across a hardwood floor. The gate also has feet that stick out on the front, to help prevent the gate from tipping over.

Answer:
Unfortunately there is no barrier 34" or taller that is capable of being exactly 50" wide. The 34' high, free standing barrier is 55' at it's shortest width and the 36" high, free standing barrier is 54" at it's shortest. You could use either one but have the side support pieces outside the opening. If you look closely at the pictures of both barriers you will see an example of how that would work. That would make the barrier stick out into the area outside your opening about 10-17".

Answer:
Yes absolutely - I bought this gate a year ago and it does not "install" on the wall at all. In fact, I regularly pick it up and move it to an alternate area of my home. Nevertheless, it is very sturdy and keeps my enthusiastic border collie contained. He likes to put his paws up on the gate, and it is designed so it barely moves. I love it and it looks great!
I have a photo posted with some of my other responses - take a look.

We appreciate your interest in this item. Unfortunately, this gate is adjustable between 54-3/4"-68-1/2"W, so would be too large for a 45" opening. We do offer the 20 inch version of this item which is available in two sizes - one of which can be adjusted between 40"- 70"W. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes! I bought this exact gate and width a year ago and I use it for a 55" opening (and it looks like it could expand another foot beyond that). This is an incredible product, well worth the investment, and looks GREAT in our house!

Answer:
If you did, you would have the 11" side pieces sticking out in the middle of your gate. They would butt up against each other, and I suppose you could wire them together with a nice bronze-looking wire. I think it would function fine, but you definitely would have those sides in the middle of your gate. I own this one, and I have it spanning a 55" width. See pic and you will clearly see the side panels. LOVE the gate!

We appreciate your interest in this item. To adjust the gate, you would position the front panels in the position to accommodate the desired size of the gate and then fasten the bolts in the holes to secure the pieces together.

you can bolt it together at your desired width (bolts come with the gate) or do what I did and just stand it up all by itself at the width you want. It's very stable and the dogs haven't moved it once.

Thank you for your interest in this item. There are no panels within the gate; the bars are 2" apart. Unfortunately, the gate only goes straight across and cannot go in different directions. Both the 20"H barrier and 36"H barrier can be adjusted to a width of 60".

No flexibality if you are talking about putting it at angles. This gate has two panels, one is 37" and the other 38". It has pre-drilled holes at 6" intervals. I have a 52" opening, so yes it has enough gate left to extend to 60"

Answer:
there are no panels inn this model but it is easy to step over. 60 inches is no problem at all. My gate could be 100 inches. I really like being able to have it double without having to fasten it together - makes is really easy to move. I'm still thinking about different angles. I think you can by using the freestanding feature. You could just move one of the panels to the angle you need. However, you might have a piece sticking out depending on the size you need.

It ccomes out from the wall where it's attached back 13.5 inches. The gate to walk thru is about 17 inches and the adjustment area can go out about 21 inches. I have it expanded to fill a spot I had a slider and it's open to 69 inches but I have another 5 I could add to it if needed. Hope this answers your questions, the gate is GORGEOUS!

Answer:
The side returns are exactly 11" long. We assembled ours about 11 months ago, but I don't "think" you can have the gate on either side. Also, the gate's placement depends on how much or how little you expand the gate. See my pic - mine is spanning a 55" width (with more room available), so it puts the gate more to the side). The gate will fall wherever it does, based on how wide you make the gate - it can't be changed. But this is an AMAZING product and we love it!!
