Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 215 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by doggie gate we had an unusual place to use a dog gate and as soon as I saw this free standing one...i ordered it. Its so nice and heavy duty...it works perfect for where we needed it. I would have liked it to come in other colors or finishes...but it was worth refinishing...for the perfect use. I also really liked how the sides moved to ease of entering and exiting without even having to move it...this gate had all my dilemmas covered !! One negative ...if you want a review...make it easier to sign in...my nickname is two letters...get over it! May 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best purchase for new home Just moved to a new home and needed a dog gate that would match the decor and not look like the typical dog gate. Very happy with the purchase and qualityof the item December 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sturdy and pretty! This is a beautiful way to keep your pets out of places you do not want them to go. Much prettier than a baby gate! December 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Gate! After renovating my master bedroom (including new wood floors and bedding) I wanted a way to keep my two Cavalier Spaniels in my master bath at night but did not want to close the door (they won't make a fuss as long as they can see me in bed!). This gate is perfect! It is sturdy and heavy enough to keep them out of the bedroom. It's not too heavy though - I can easily move it in the morning when I want to let them out. And it looks nice, too. I couldn't be more pleased with this gate. November 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well Made We were looking for a classy gate for our home and this caught our eye. It is beautifully made with quality and style. Highly recommend this! November 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Gate We purchased the large and small 22" gates. We have 3 labs. The dogs love the gates because they can see in the room. We love the gates because it keeps the dogs off of the new carpet. These gates are sooooo durable. They look so much nicer than the cheap baby gate we were using. I really like that they are low enough for me to step over. Great product. Love it. July 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well made and looks great The gate comes packaged very well and it is very easy to put together and then install. It will go in any home and look good. July 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fabulous pet gate Just received the pet gate and put it together in minutes. It is very sturdy and really nice looking. It will be perfect to keep my little Maltese out of the living and dining room when she is home alone. I got the larger size as my hallway was a couple of inches wider so this is perfect. I will probably get another one for my vacation home after I test this out for a couple of weeks. Thank you Frontgate! June 10, 2015

Answer:
We put two together to protect drapes at a sliding glass door. The only issue is that the the end sections remain perpendicular to the main section, they don't fold. If you are worries about a pet pushing it open you could clamp them together.

We appreciate your interest in this item. As these gates are free-standing, they are not attached to the door frame. You could put 2 or more gates together to accommodate a larger opening, however there is no way to permanently attach multiple gates together.

Answer:
Not to my knowledge and I have two and just looked, although you could buy 3 and have them sitting side by side, but they need the feet for stability and also the holes are precut that allows you to adjust the width you use. They do however have a hardwood gate that is a 6 panel gate that you may want to look at. It also can be used as a playpen or squared area. That one may work better for you and it's very attractive.

How long is the smaller version with the two side panels straight with the center panels? Or, when the gate is placed flat on the floor, how long is the entire gate (panels flat as well)? Is that how you measure the maximum widths (small 40" and large 70") with the side panels included in the measurement?

Answer:
I think you want to know if this gate will cover a wider width than it's specified? It fits the widths specified with the sides/feet perpendicular to the panels (as pictured). The side panels are not made to be lined up with the main panels and are not part of the width covered. If you need a wider width like I did (60" without having to hurdle over a gate) I purchased the tall/walk through wider gate. Both are Very worth the purchase.

Answer:
Well the side panels are part of the feet that stabilize it. They are attached by pins, then screws so I'm not sure you would want to keep them at an angle as that may compromise the stability of the product and could even result in it possible tipping over onto your pet or child. So yes, the side panels are included in the 40 to 70" width, when they are attached but as sides not flat, but your able to adjust it very easily for width adjustment, but only at that specified width. They have smaller gates in the catalog or online if your looking for a smaller or larger opening. Leaving the side panels open would not give it a base for stability. I hope this helps you.

Answer:
The side panels are the support and stand just as the picture shows. They are not included in the width dimension. You will need to purchase the gate that meets or exceeds the width of your opening.

The 70" size will work for your 5' door opening. You will adjust the gate's size down to as close to the 5' opening as you can.

I have one of the 22 in tension mounted ones and yes you can step over it but be careful I step over mine in the beginning but recently I stepped over it and got my shoe hung on the top of the gate and fell against my kitchen cabinet and hurt myself. But I am short 5ft 1in and 61 years old so that may have made a difference. So now no more stepping over it I go to the walk thru gate now
I bought both kinds from frontgate and I do love both

Answer:
No. If you use the rivets to lock the two gate piece together to fit the space, you will need to step over it. If, however, you decide to keep the pieces unattached, as we did, you can easily move one of the pieces to the side to allow a small passage space.
