22"H Free-standing Steel Mesh Pet Gate Barrier 4.8 5 160 175
Free-standing steel mesh pet gate barrier This is the second pet gate barrier of this type we have purchased from Frontgate. It is very attractive and substantial -- much better than a traditional wooden baby gate. Easy assembly. Would recommend for anyone who has small pets and like a more attractive alternative. October 29, 2013
Love this gate We have received compliments from everyone who has seen our new gate. It's lovely...and functional. December 3, 2013
Great quality gate This gate was very easy to assemble and is very sturdy. Great quality. Nice color. Very happy with this purchase. November 29, 2013
Best Gate Ever I purchased this gate because of it appealing design. It is very sturdy...heavy and does not tip over. Best of all it doesn't mar woodwork or floors! I ordered the shorter gate so that it would be easier to step over. The dogs stay put, and the cats and I go over easily! I am ordering a 2nd one! It is an attractive alternative to other types of gates. September 18, 2013
Steel Mesh Gate This gate fit ours needs perfectly. It is easy to handle and stores easily. The sturdy construction allows it to stand solidly and our dogs are unable to push it over. The adjustability in size makes it usable in more than one area. November 1, 2013
Very Satisfied The gate shipped right away and was extremely easy to put together - took less than 5 minutes. The look is absolutely perfect! Beautifully designed free standing and heavy duty. The only reason I gave it four stars is because my dog figured out how to push the gate and squeeze through to the living room. It only happened once - and she is a stubborn french bulldog so I don't think it's a design flaw. Just wasn't heavy enough for her. Love the gate May 3, 2013
Great Item This steel mesh pet gate is wonderful. All my friends have commented on how beautiful it looks and it serves its purpose perfectly. October 28, 2013
Well made and attractive We purchased this gate to put in front of our stairs to prevent the puppy from going up there. It is well made, secure and definitely does the job. October 20, 2013
Beautiful Gate! I bought a similar gate (same style but has a built in gate) for my home. My daughter saw it and loved it. So much so, that she asked for the 22" as a Christmas present. She has a 15 month old child she did not want climbing on the stairs. I purchased the wider one so that in the event she want to use in another location, she has that flexibility. She has a Victorian style home and it looks beautiful in the foyer. It is a beautiful, very well made product. January 4, 2013
free standing steel mesh pet gate barrier I just recieved my pet gate today, with fast delivery, I was surprised with standard shipping, how fast we recieved it. Not only was it easy to assemble, really!! It is very sturdy & classy looking as well. We keep our dogs in the kitchen & we had old wooden gates dividing the kitchen & livingroom to keep them out. This product is defintely worth purchasing. We can now actually appreciate the beauty of our home now . Thank you Frontgate . March 6, 2013
Too Heavy to Move Easily This is a very nice quality pet gate that looks great, however I regret purchasing it. It is too heavy and bulky to move with 1 hand. I bought the 40"-70" size. You need to use both hands to lift it and move it aside every time you want to pass through the doorway. My advice would be to use it only in a doorway that is not used for people traffic. July 9, 2013
Great looking gate I was surprised at how sturdy this dog gate was and, it not only looked great but was excellent quality. The assembly was easy and the adjustment to the opening size locks in so you are not forced to continue to adjust the opening size. We use it to block our Yorkies from going down the basement stairs, and it looks so good. We do not have to remove it when company comes like we did with previous gates. May 1, 2013
Good gate, but not GREAT We love the look, flexibility and quality of this gate. However, I would strongly suggest some method of fastening the sides in place. Perhaps a type of "pin" that can be removed so that the gate can still be moveable/flexible. The reason I make this suggestion is because our very bright puppy figured out how to push the side in order to escape. We are currently using a chair to keep the side from moving. Not the look I was going for. January 29, 2013
Gorgeous dog gate I searched and searched for an attractive dog gate and knew I did not want a white plastic baby gate. I found this on Frontgate's website and immediately knew it was 'the one'! It's beautiful and almost like a piece of furniture and so easy to set up and step over. It does its job by keeping our two dogs away from the front door. Thanks so much for a great product! Highly recommend! May 22, 2013
sturdy well made gate I was impressed with the quality and weight of this gate. It looks more expensive than what we paid. Good value for the price. October 7, 2013
Best Purchase Ever This Freestanding gate is the best gate I have ever seen. It is very heavy duty. It is beautiful and elegant looking. I am only 4"11 so it is perfect for me to step over it. It has helped me being worry free cause MY Lil Chua can not get to the front door now. So no more scare of her running out the door. Also My elderly cat is able to jump over it to go upstairs to her loft.. Thanks so much. April 11, 2013
22 " and 48" Steel Mesh Pet Gate I purchased 2 of these gates in different sizes. I liked them so much I purchased a 3rd. They are very easy to assemble, sturdy, made well and so beautiful. I have had many compliments. I like how the sides can swing open so you don't have to swing your leg over top. They are also easy to adjust for width. July 15, 2013
looks great Not only does the pet gate look great in my home but it is easy to install and keeps our yorkie puppy out of the dining room. September 27, 2013
Elegant addition Beautiful, durable, easy-to-assemble. I posted pictures on Facebook and received many comments on the beauty of my new free-standing mesh pet gate. The only one in my household who was not pleased is my chew-happy puppy who could no longer destroy the gate! I am VERY pleased. July 24, 2013
Great gate This is a great gate! It not only works well but looks beautiful in my house. Also easy for my 7 and 9 year old to climb over, but tall enough that my 15 pound dog can not jump out. YET! If you have a big jumper or climber go for the taller sized gate. If you are looking for a gate I would recommend it! July 4, 2013
good looking pet gate After searching for a small dog gate online for sometime, finally found this very nice looking gate on sale. After ordering it came exactly on the date they said it would. Assembly instructions were no good at all and I figured out myself how to put it together. It serves the purpose at my living rook entry for my 12 lb. havanese and looks great like a fireplace screen. Wish it was 20 in. instead of 22 in. but overall great product. March 1, 2012
Nice looking buy not practical. Due to the lack of an opening door in this little gate I find it cumbersome. I ordered it knowing I would have to step over, however, I thought at the height it wouldn't be too bad. I was wrong, I am in my late sixties and find it inconvenient. My forties something daughter has no problem with stepping over. Good quality and nice looking but I wish it had a door to pass through. March 14, 2013
Very Nice Product I love this gate and it was easy to put together. The only con if you would even call it that was that people think it's a fireplace grate. :) September 16, 2013
A great purchase This elegant pet gate was the perfect item I needed to keep my doggie out of my special room. September 27, 2013
Best puppy blockade Now both the puppies are kept away from the front door, which prevents barking. This gate is substantial, they can not knock it over! Functional and pretty! September 4, 2013
Absolutely love our elegant pet gate! I'm a real estate broker and I see a lot of homes. I saw Front Gate's pet gate at the top of stairs in a beautiful home that I was showing. I had to have one for our little dogs. The design is classy and the gate is sturdy ! Absolutely perfect! July 18, 2013
Lovely and Well made I bought this gate to use in the large opening going into our living room...it is very pretty, elegant, and sturdy. I have Cavaliers and they do not push the gate or jump over it. Serves it's purpose well....heavier to move than some but that is why it's sturdy and of good quality. It did take me a little while to figure out but I'm not too handy. Well packaged and arrived quickly. November 30, 2012
Beautiful Puppy Gate So love this beautiful puppy gate. Put my new gate together in no time at all and the quailty is exceptional. Goes wonderfully with my decor. I have 2 Yorkies, 2 Pomeranians and 1 Whippett all weigh under 5 1/2lbs. except for my Whippett. They love this beautiful gate as much as I do. I am a new customer to Frontgate and will be returning for more of their wonderful products in the very near future. April 29, 2012
Beautiful first purchase I ordered this beautiful gate for my 4 legged babies. Not only is it sturdy and serves the purpose for which I bought it but the gate is absolutely gorgeous! It's scroll work adds so much beauty to the inside entry of our home. It was a breeze to assemble by my husband. He has commented on numerous occasions what a beautiful gate this purchase is. I will definitely order from Frontgate in the future February 28, 2012
Most Beautiful gate EVER I purchased this gate to keep my little min-pin out of the living room. It is absolutely beautiful, matches my decor perfectly, and was super easy to put together. I needed it a little wider though. I wish there was a 12in extension avail. but I'll make due. I LOVE, love, LOVE it and get lots of compliments on how perfect it is! April 16, 2013

Also, I see comments about it being heavy...I will be pushing it aside or sliding it smaller... when he is allowed into the other rooms. Is that easy to do on a daily basis?
Love the look!

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this item. This gate weighs 29lb, which would make it easy for you to move the gate out of the way when he is allowed in other rooms. As for if your Yorkie will be able to move this out of the way to sneak through the sides, we have no way to guarantee that. Some dogs are afraid to move items as they fear they will fall on them, while others are fearless. It would also depend on the placement of the gate - if there was anything on either side to assist with keeping it in place.

Answer:
My yorkie is unable to move it due to the weight of the gate. Be prepared for the weight, it is not easy to pick up and move around, but moving one end to let him through would not be a problem. Sliding it smaller is not an option as the gate is adjusted to the size you need when you assemble it, then you insert several screws to hold it in that position. You do not have the option to constantly change the size without getting out the tool and removing/re-inserting the screws.

Answer:
I doubt your yorkie will be able to push it. I have four small dogs and this has never happened. This gate is not a good candidate for daily adjustment. It can easily be moved by a person however. It is not too heavy.

Answer:
I move mine regularly, just pick it up from the sides. It's not light but not really heavy to move either. It looks great and is absolutely sturdy enough to keep a yorkie contained. I have a Bichon/Shih tzu, a yorkie, a coton du tulear and her very energetic puppy and my gates work very well to keep them in/out where I want them - no squeezing by and they cannot knock the gate aside either.

Answer:
Your Yorkie will not be able to move it, it weighs close to 30 pounds and I am disabled and am able to move mine without any issues. I will say they are so attractive, that I do not even move mine much, as all 4 bedrooms have beautiful FRONTGATE gates attached that open, the hard wood ones they no longer make, with a little door I walk thru and they are all so beautiful, they actually make my doorways look better!! Every person that enters my home comments on my gates and wants to know where I got them all! I have a 10 pound schnoodle and a 22 pounds schnoodle and neither one of them can move them! Get them :)

Answer:
In general, he should not be able to push it. It's pretty sturdy and heavy. However, if the gate doesn't fit the opening properly, and leaves inches open, or if you haven't used the screws to hold the end pieces securely in place, he could maybe wiggle those and snake through. You can't slide them smaller. The gate is screwed together into the configuration you need for your opening. The pieces don't 'slide'. You'd just have to lift the unit and move it aside. I size my gates so that the side pieces are inside the opening, not in front of the opening (as in the picture)... then my dog can't push or work it open.

Answer:
The footings are very attractive and mine are on my hardwood floors and do not scratch your floors. The gates are barely 30 pounds and can be lifted even by myself being disabled. The best thing I can advise is to lift them, not drag if your concerned about your floors, but my floors have not one mark from my gates. You may ant to apply a felt stick on pad just for GP if that eases your mind. The gates match my dining room so beautifully, that I no longer even remove them like the older ugly baby gates I had because they are so decorative and people have noticed them as they enter my home and fall in love and want them for themselves.
