Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 217 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect in every way This pet barrier has wonderful transitional designer look, super flexibility, and is nicely made. It's the perfect height to contain my puppy to his designated training zone, but let him see where I am in remainder of the living area. Fairly easy for me to get over it when needed; light enough to move when I want, but heavy enough that the puppy can't push it around, even when he's grown to full 12 lbs.( A very large dog might need something taller though.) January 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this pet gate This pet gate was even better than I expected. It's very attractive and sturdy enough to keep my puppy from knocking it over. Also, very easy to move around. Overall, very pleased with this gate. January 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE LOVE the doggie gates!!!! Seriously, these gates are gorgeous, sturdy, low enough that I can step over but keeps my little chihuahuas where they should be. Even my husband comments regularly how great they are. No more opening the usual ugly/typical baby gates, or ruining the doorways, or having to adjust them. I could not be happier, I have 2 so far and keep thinking where I could put another just to buy another. January 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase This gate was easy to assemble and looks great! Perfect for our pet! January 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Classy gate! We love our new gate! It is beautiful and classy. It was easy to put together and is very sturdy. January 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mesh Pet Gate Barrier Worked as advertised, great construction. Hinged or fixed(with bolts) end points allowed great flexibility. Metal avoided pet chewing issues. Heavy enough to avoid clever pet escape artistry. December 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Barrier My dogs are medium and large and they both accept the gate as a formidable barrier. The smaller dog jumps up and puts her paws on it when people arrive, but has not tried to jump over. They are both very active dogs and quite agile. I use it about 5 feet from the front door because Sadie, the larger dog, is a runner. She will bolt out the door and keep going until she realizes she does not know where she is or why she ever left home! This is just one more deterrent to keep her from running. Even at my advanced age, I can step over the gate, but usually I just move the side panels and walk around it. I found it a little confusing to put together until I understood what it should look like. All in all, it is great and I had questioned whether I could get one for outside at the bottom of the steps as a "third" barrier for my wandering Sadie. December 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mesh Pet Gate - delivered as promised Extremely happy with the service and the product. The free standing pet barrier is exactly what I needed. I have 2 mini schnauzers that are very old and couldn't go up and down the stairs any more. This gate is very nice looking, easy to assemble and works perfect. In the past we just leaned a baby gate against the top of the steps and it looked terrible and you would knock it over if you tried to step over it. Very pleased with the purchase. December 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very attractive It was great to finally find a pet barrier that did not distract from my carefully decorated room. These barriers are quality construction and very attractive. December 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Petgate This petgate was what I always wanted for my doggys. Not only is it very beautiful and elegant to look at, but built very well. Was very easy to assemble and worth every cent I paid. I highly recommend this petgate to pet parents. December 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality Gate Beautifully constructed gate - I've received many compliments on it. Fits perfectly in my doorway. My only criticism is that I wish it were slightly taller. December 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this gate We have received compliments from everyone who has seen our new gate. It's lovely...and functional. December 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great quality gate This gate was very easy to assemble and is very sturdy. Great quality. Nice color. Very happy with this purchase. November 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gate looks great We are pleased with this gate. We put it together with just one problem. The bottom screw on the left side did not line up with the hole. It took a little more effort to get it in. Otherwise it is a very nice looking gate and works just fine for us. Our little Westie ,Daisy, looks like the picture in the catalog. November 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Pet Gate We are very pleased with this attractive pet gate. We have been blocking our dining room doors for years with chairs to keep the long dog hair out of the dining room. This is working well and now our dining room is back to normal. It is very attractive and easy to set up. November 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Gate Really love this gate. Goes well with my décor. It's nice that it is not an eye sore. Love the fact that it is portable as well. We did not hook it together so that we can either step over the gate or slide them apart for easy walk through for family members that are not to steady on their feet and don't do well stepping over the gate. Am very happy with this purchase. November 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Steel Mesh Gate This gate fit ours needs perfectly. It is easy to handle and stores easily. The sturdy construction allows it to stand solidly and our dogs are unable to push it over. The adjustability in size makes it usable in more than one area. November 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Free-standing steel mesh pet gate barrier This is the second pet gate barrier of this type we have purchased from Frontgate. It is very attractive and substantial -- much better than a traditional wooden baby gate. Easy assembly. Would recommend for anyone who has small pets and like a more attractive alternative. October 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Item This steel mesh pet gate is wonderful. All my friends have commented on how beautiful it looks and it serves its purpose perfectly. October 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this gate! We just got this gate for our new mini schnauzer puppy. It was easy to assemble and looks very elegant. Does not scratch the hardwood floors or mar the walls. We liked it so much we ordered a smaller one for the other doorway. This solved a big aesthetic problem with keeping our 2 dogs contained without making the house look like the dogs are taking over!!!! October 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Free-Standing Pet Gate Having had the ugly plastic gates up for my dogs for the past 2 years, I decided to purchase this steel free-standing pet gate. It was certainly well worth the purchase! I had no problems putting it together and the best part is that the dogs can't get through it! It is also very nice to look at. :) I would highly recommend this gate! October 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well made and attractive We purchased this gate to put in front of our stairs to prevent the puppy from going up there. It is well made, secure and definitely does the job. October 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by sturdy well made gate I was impressed with the quality and weight of this gate. It looks more expensive than what we paid. Good value for the price. October 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great purchase This elegant pet gate was the perfect item I needed to keep my doggie out of my special room. September 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by looks great Not only does the pet gate look great in my home but it is easy to install and keeps our yorkie puppy out of the dining room. September 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Gate Ever I purchased this gate because of it appealing design. It is very sturdy...heavy and does not tip over. Best of all it doesn't mar woodwork or floors! I ordered the shorter gate so that it would be easier to step over. The dogs stay put, and the cats and I go over easily! I am ordering a 2nd one! It is an attractive alternative to other types of gates. September 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Nice Product I love this gate and it was easy to put together. The only con if you would even call it that was that people think it's a fireplace grate. :) September 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best puppy blockade Now both the puppies are kept away from the front door, which prevents barking. This gate is substantial, they can not knock it over! Functional and pretty! September 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Pet Gate We love this pet gate for our puppy. It is heavy, sturdy, and beautiful. It allows our dog to see the action, but not get in on the action. The screen is so much nicer than those white puppy gates that are out there. Several friends have even remarked that it looks like an upscale fireplace screen. Not a bad idea for the future. It is easy to move back and forth or to block off other doorways, as needed. Our dog is quite small (4 lbs) so jumping over it is not an issue, but it might be an issue for a larger dog. Excellent product! September 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dog gate I purchased a "step over gate" and it is perfect! It is very sturdy so there is no way my Weimaraner (full grown) can knock it over and has never attempted to jump over it, 22" high. Very beautiful, so much better than the baby gates. I have recommended Frontgate items to my friends. You may think for a gate it is pricey but this gate you will have for years and years and may even be passing it down the generation line! Also, I see comments about it being heavy...I will be pushing it aside or sliding it smaller... when he is allowed into the other rooms. Is that easy to do on a daily basis?
Love the look!

Answer:
I doubt your yorkie will be able to push it. I have four small dogs and this has never happened. This gate is not a good candidate for daily adjustment. It can easily be moved by a person however. It is not too heavy.

Answer:
I move mine regularly, just pick it up from the sides. It's not light but not really heavy to move either. It looks great and is absolutely sturdy enough to keep a yorkie contained. I have a Bichon/Shih tzu, a yorkie, a coton du tulear and her very energetic puppy and my gates work very well to keep them in/out where I want them - no squeezing by and they cannot knock the gate aside either.

Answer:
Your Yorkie will not be able to move it, it weighs close to 30 pounds and I am disabled and am able to move mine without any issues. I will say they are so attractive, that I do not even move mine much, as all 4 bedrooms have beautiful FRONTGATE gates attached that open, the hard wood ones they no longer make, with a little door I walk thru and they are all so beautiful, they actually make my doorways look better!! Every person that enters my home comments on my gates and wants to know where I got them all! I have a 10 pound schnoodle and a 22 pounds schnoodle and neither one of them can move them! Get them :)

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this item. This gate weighs 29lb, which would make it easy for you to move the gate out of the way when he is allowed in other rooms. As for if your Yorkie will be able to move this out of the way to sneak through the sides, we have no way to guarantee that. Some dogs are afraid to move items as they fear they will fall on them, while others are fearless. It would also depend on the placement of the gate - if there was anything on either side to assist with keeping it in place.

Answer:
In general, he should not be able to push it. It's pretty sturdy and heavy. However, if the gate doesn't fit the opening properly, and leaves inches open, or if you haven't used the screws to hold the end pieces securely in place, he could maybe wiggle those and snake through. You can't slide them smaller. The gate is screwed together into the configuration you need for your opening. The pieces don't 'slide'. You'd just have to lift the unit and move it aside. I size my gates so that the side pieces are inside the opening, not in front of the opening (as in the picture)... then my dog can't push or work it open.

Answer:
My yorkie is unable to move it due to the weight of the gate. Be prepared for the weight, it is not easy to pick up and move around, but moving one end to let him through would not be a problem. Sliding it smaller is not an option as the gate is adjusted to the size you need when you assemble it, then you insert several screws to hold it in that position. You do not have the option to constantly change the size without getting out the tool and removing/re-inserting the screws.

Answer:
The footings are very attractive and mine are on my hardwood floors and do not scratch your floors. The gates are barely 30 pounds and can be lifted even by myself being disabled. The best thing I can advise is to lift them, not drag if your concerned about your floors, but my floors have not one mark from my gates. You may ant to apply a felt stick on pad just for GP if that eases your mind. The gates match my dining room so beautifully, that I no longer even remove them like the older ugly baby gates I had because they are so decorative and people have noticed them as they enter my home and fall in love and want them for themselves.

Yes, the gate just wouldn't be straight across; but more on a diagonal. As long as you measure the opening, and it's within the width of the gate; it would work.
