Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 149 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Gates - Best Ever These gates are great. I have spend lots of money over the years on gates for my home, with 5 dogs and 6 cats you need gates. These are great looking and easy to install. That add to the look of your home where most gates are just plain ugly. Love them February 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great purchase This tension gate works great and looks great too. February 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect gate solution! I love this gate! It is attractive, which is important to me, but it is also useful providing exactly the solution we needed. We have 3 dachshunds that we need to barricade occasionally for different reasons. It is so inconvenient for us, however, to try to step over a gate or to have to take it down to get through the doorway so we needed a way to pass through. We also have baseboard trim that makes our door opening size different at the top and bottom & this gate adjusts at the top & bottom separately so you can fit each individually - perfect for our situation! The gate is easy to open & closes itself so you don't have to worry. There's also an additional lock for extra security if you had small children you needed to keep out of an area. It was easy to install & the quality is great. We are very happy with our purchase & would highly recommend it. February 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great pet gate We originally purchased two of these gates to block hall access from our family room for three dogs. Purchased a third to kennel them in a laundry room when we aren't home. Great quality and build. They are nicely finished and are superior to other gates we have seen. You would not be disappointed with this product. February 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tough Gate With An Elegant Look... I initially bought two of these to keep my aging dogs in a specific area. I was so impressed with the quality and look, that I ordered a third gate recently. These gates are tough and stand up to a lot of traffic. They look very elegant in our home, and are quite easy to operate. I also found them easy to assemble. I highly recommend them... well worth the price! February 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the best purchases from Front gate I bought it for my 50lb Golden Doodle and it holds up so well. highly recommend November 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pet Gate This pet gate is beautiful. We put it at the end of our stairs to keep our 3 large dogs downstairs and it works wonderfully. During the day I wedge it open with one of the extra??? parts. The wrought iron spindles match the ones on our stair railings perfectly so it looks custom. Its easy to use and set up only wish it had a way to lock open during the days but other than that we love this gate! October 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great gate I bought two of these gates. I have had them about a month. They receive heavy use daily. They have worked flawlessly. My children can work the opening easily. They look nice and work well. They are substantial in look and feel. I would highly recommend. September 16, 2015

I thought when you pulled the latch, the bottom bolt would lift and release the gate. Instead, I have to lift the gate high enough to release the bolt. Is this a design flaw or a defective gate?

My baseboard molding is 2.5 inches high and 1 inch deep. In order to install this, two criteria must be met:
1) Do the bottom mounts set against the walll no higher than 2.25 inches?
2) Because the top tension mounts will each be extended close to 1 inch wider than the bottom, will the gate be stable?

Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. The bottom mounts are 1.5" diameter and will be flush with the bottom of the gate, so they will not be higher than 2.25". The gate should maintain stability even though the top mounts will be extended further than the bottom mounts.

Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. Regrettably, none of the tension-mount gates will cover an opening of 45-48" width. For an opening this wide, you would need a free-standing gate. Some of the free-standing gates that would cover this width would include:
Extra-wide Freestanding Steel Mesh Barrier (42958)
Extra-wide 20"H Freestanding Barrier (30191)
34"H Expandable Free-standing Mesh Pet Gate (42955)

We do not have a tension-mount gate that expands up to 54", you may want to look at our free-standing pet barriers as we offer some that expand up to 70"W.

The (4) disc's which offer the pressure points (top/bottom) of contact on the gate are 2" in diameter. If this space is available on the door frame I feel the gate is a fit for you. I have mine at a opening which has no door, but the wall space is 4 inches, no problem.

I have the 34" expanding black iron gate and used small blocks on one side to "extend" to 39" but I don't suggest going any bigger. The free standing model that matches, can only adapt down to 53" but if you have "open space" like at the end of stairs... you could adapt this model as I did. Both are great quality and look good!

Answer:
I have a 35"opening, and found that 33" was this gates absolute limit holding the frame rigid in place. I used a wood block top and bottom keeping the gate tight, fully operational and in place just fine.

I love the larger gate since I had a 68" opening. I would like the "matching" gate, but my opening is 37"... I would prefer to have a larger gate so it could adapt to other doorways instead of installing a "spacer" of wood to make this fit as is. Love this product, so superior!

We appreciate your interest in this item. The opening on this gate measures 26"W x 34"H. The latch does not stick out from the gate as it slides from side to side.

Answer:
I have a 35 inch opening and had to use wood blocks to extend this version.. I did wish it came with an optional extender panel, but no it does not... 33" is about how safely you can extend and keep the rigid frame. I have the full size model as well, very good quality!

I have a 35" opening and had to use wood blocks to extend. Good quality, but 33 is about the full span to keep the rigid frame. The other freestanding might be too large for you.
