34-inch Expanding Tension Mount Pet Gate 4.7 5 150 157
good gate sturdy, solid, easy to install. Much better than the mesh gate that I bought at the same time to fill a bigger doorway. June 7, 2014
Stylish High Quality Since installing (fairly easy installation) our 34" Expanding Tension Pet Gate for our first dog, we've received compliments from our guests. Compliments like, "Wow! That's a fancy dog gate." And, "That doesn't even look like a dog gate - it's nice!" We didn't want the 'baby-gate-turned-dog-gate' look, so Frontgate's alternative was perfect. Our new 40 pound Cairin Terrier has put her front paws on it and it's as sturdy as can be; although she has managed to deeply scratch it (before her nails were trimmed) and chew a piece of the top plastic off. Otherwise, it's in perfect condition. It's convenient how the gate door swings in and out. If it had a way to stay open when not in use, that would make it almost perfect. Offering various finishes would be nice (we would've chosen a silver finish). The gate's price is worth it's value to protect the house by restricting our dog's access when needed, while looking classy. May 27, 2014
Good looking and sturdy This gate was not my first choice but I needed matching gates for different size openings and this was the only model that would work for us. It is sturdy, set it up in 15 - 20 minutes, lots of protecting packing material to remove. I am getting used to the "unlatching" process, not easy to do with full hands. I had a party recently and the guests remarked on it's good looks but thought the opening process was a little awkward. We have only had the gates for 2 weeks but it does appear to be durable. We also bought the low gate and I appreciate the ability to just step over it. May 18, 2014
34" Pet Gate Appearance looks great. However, in terms of durability, lanch area for both bottom and top came right off after my dog played with this. I wondered if there is a replacement part for this. May 9, 2014
Definitely worth ordering online This is my second pet gate from Frontgate really nice quality and looks great May 8, 2014
great quality and easy to use The quality is excellent and it is easy to open and self closes. Not too tall and extremely easy to install. Great looking too and gets the job done and stays put even with frequent opening and closing. Highly recommend. April 29, 2014
Security! This is a great heavy duty gate. The gate would have been given 5 stars if it had levelers or longer tension screws. When you have a house that is over 100 years old, nothing is level or perfectly sized. Thank goodness there were anchors for the wall to keep it in place. I purchased the extension gate for when we needed a wider gate in a different area. The door we have it installed in only needed the base gate unit. Unfortunately the door has an uneven frame, which required the tension screws to be a little longer than what is provided; which meant we had to use the anchors to keep the gate in place. Pet gates Perfect, do the job plus add a decorative touch so much better then hopping over the tension baby gates! The swing door makes it much easier for me and the dogs to come and go and most important, my house thanks you! April 2, 2014

Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. The clearance on the sides of the 34 inch Expanding Tension Mount Pet Gate is 2 1/8" on each side. Most dogs would not be able to fit through this space.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. There is no minimum clearance required for the Expanding Tension Mount Pet Gate. You may install it so that the bottom bar rests on the floor, or with a gap between the bar and floor - whichever you desire.
