Wonderful purchase
I wish I had done this sooner. I had trouble with my dogs during rain and snow using our diningroom rug as a personal potty. Now I no longer have to worry. The freestanding barrier is beautiful and fits in so well with our house. It actually is very nice to look at. I don't mind having it there at all. I highly recommend this for anyone with small dogs. it really is great if you have open rooms.

This is a very sturdy and nice looking gate. I purchased the taller gate also which i like even better. It would be nice to have this same style taller and width the same as the 20" gate. I have 3 rotties and they can jump the 20 " gate but it is in a place where I just wanted to block off a room. They have learned to respect the gate. Our taller gate is very sturdy and they can't get over or through it. It blocks our livingroom from the foyer so visitors don't have to get bombarded when they come in. It keeps the dogs from scratching the door also. The walls don't have holes because the gate is freestanding.

It works
It works to keep my two huskies from heading where I don't want them to go.... I do however have to say that the picture makes the coloring of this look a lot darker than it is. Mine has a reddish uneven tone that is not at all reflected in the picture. I love it for it's function, but I am definitely not a fan of the way it looks!

Best gate!
I love the look and size of the gate. Easy to move and walk over if you have to. I have received many compliments on the look of my gate.

Great barrier
I purchased both the 20" free standing barrier and the 36" free standing barrier. I love them both. The gate however on the 36" barrier is a little hard to open and close. If I juggle it and lift it, I can get it open but it is not easy. Other than that, it is attractive, heavy, and easy to assemble and disassemble for storage.

Best color choice
The heavy duty bronze gates blend beautifully with decor and look far superior to more expensive but cheaper looking wooden gates. The bronze gates are much more elegant looking than gold, brass, white, or light wood gates sold by other companies. This is the only company that sells this color. Very pleased.

Perfect solution
The opening between my living and family rooms was too wide for any standard pet store gate. Even though this gate was expensive, it was wide enough to keep my dog out of the living room, so I decided to give it a try. It has a quality appearance, and is sturdy, and has solved my problem.

Excellent product
We have used a variety of different pet gates over the years but wanted one that would look good in our home that did not need to be installed in a wall. This gate is tall enough to keep our dogs contained and the walk-through door is very easy to use. Much safer than stepping over lower gates. The metal is finished with a contemporary bronze look so it does not look institutional but is heavy-duty so the gate can't be knocked over and dogs won't chew on it. There is some assembly required. We had a couple panels in the wrong place or upside down but with so few parts it was easy to tell how to fix our mistake.

No regrets on this purchase
These gates do the job of keeping our dogs off the carpet and are not an eye sore like most white plastic gates. Blend in well with our warm decor.

36" freestanding gate
Assembly on this product was easy and quick This is a well-made, hardy, heavy-duty gate. But it is not so heavy that you cannot move with ease..I have a 140 lb Irish Wolfhound that I want to keep contained and it works great.

Saved the tree
Our 10 month old cocker cannot keep her mouth off anything new. To save our tree, we blocked the room with the barrier. Works great! We can see the tree but she can't get to it. It looks nice, too.

Stylish Solution

excellent dog barrier
I searched the web for a few weeks trying to find a pet gate tall enough that my 50 lb. shep. mix could not jump over and that my 30 lb. puppy could not climb. I also wanted something that looked pretty in my home. This gate is perfect, it fits an irregular shaped entry into my kitchen where I keep the dogs when I don't want them roaming free. It is pretty and was easy to assemble. Thus far my 50 lb dog stands up against it, but he cannot push it down. I love it. I might purchase another to block off the laundry room.

The product is a really nice addition to our home. I think it makes a wonderful statement instead of make shift barriers. I do wish it came in a 4 foot size for an additional area in my home.

Great product
This product is great in preventing our 14 year old dog from going downstairs to our finished lower level...and yet at a convenient height to allow us to easily and safely step over it onto the floor prior to going down the stairs. It is attractive, sturdy and doesn't require anchoring to our stairway posts or the wall...and has no gate to open and close everytime we go up and down the stairs. It has been a perfect solution for us!

Does the trick...
We have a wide hallway connecting the dining room and the family room (where the baby plays). So while I love my dog, my wife hates dog hair on the baby even more…this product fit the bill – a sturdy, moveable barrier that works well with the décor. Love the fact I didn’t have to drill holes or attach anything to the walls!

Best dog gate ever
This dog gate is the best we have ever used! It is beautiful, easy to move, and versatile. We had purchased one, and loved it so much, we bought another to use in another room. The gate does not harm walls or floors, yet it is heavy enough to keep our dogs from trying to move it. The gate is easy for people to step over or move out of the way. Very well made and durable.

Lower enough to just step over. Better looking than the old child gate we had been using. Finish looks more black than aged bronze Note if your opening is right at 40" and you are considering going with the bigger of the two, you will need need a 41"-42" opening to bolt both the panels together. If you are not concerned about bolting the two panels together do not be to worried as to panels will stand securely on their own.

Great gate!
Had trouble finding a gate wide enough to go across our kitchen area that didn't need to be screwed into the wall/cabinets.... This gate is wide enough and looks great too!

good looking and well made
Loved the quality of the freestanding barrier, and the fact that I was able to buy it for an opening over 5 feet wide. Wish, though, it was made to incorporate a gate that I could walk through, rather than walk over it or move it. When you get older, with back problems, lifting your legs or moving the gate is problematic. But it is very well made & looks rich.

Great Gates for my little dog
I have a 5 month old mini dachshund and needed gates to keep her contained while I work during the day, so I don't have to chase all over the house after her. These gates are great quality. They are very easy to assemble, sturdy and look very nice. I would highly recommend them to anyone with a small breed dog.

Great product; great service
This product is great. This is the fourth freestanding pet barrier we have purchased from Frontgate, as we have two homes. They work perfectly, but even more importantly, they are beautiful to look at. Most pet barriers are ugly and you would want to hide them when guests are coming. These are a lovely addition. The service at Frontgate is top notch as well. Thanks for your high-end merchandise with online convenience.

Outstanding Purchase
We received our new gate in a very timely fashion. According to my husband who was the installer, the installation instructions were great! The gate works exactly as advertised. It is very solid, the attention to detail is great and it looks like furniture; not a pet gate!

Unfortunately there is no barrier 34" or taller that is capable of being exactly 50" wide. The 34' high, free standing barrier is 55' at it's shortest width and the 36" high, free standing barrier is 54" at it's shortest. You could use either one but have the side support pieces outside the opening. If you look closely at the pictures of both barriers you will see an example of how that would work. That would make the barrier stick out into the area outside your opening about 10-17".Length of Ownership: < 1 year
