50-gallon Rain Barrel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality material and construction Solidly built and appealing design. Quality materials used thus sense it will be long lasting. Although it is placed in the back of one of our garages where it is not visible to anyone, I wanted an upgraded version to what is in the marketplace. The two outlets are positioned well to obtain water from upper and lower chambers. Drilled 3 holes in top to rid of standing water and fitted fine wire mesh inside the space to prevent debris from filtering through holes. At bottom periodically attach a segment of hose to drain water from bottom but mostly use bucket for upper portion. The filter over downspout area is properly placed and sized correctly. A very useful apparatus and lovely addition for gardening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent choice I've been reading reviews on rainbarrels for over a year and finally bought this one. AND - I'm really happy with it! It was super easy to put together, the brass fittings are durable and you have 2 hose spigots, one upper and one lower. It's nice to be able to have the option of having a plant in the top. I currently don't and did drill a few small holes in the top plantar because splashover water does accumulate there. Overall - it looks great, works great and was very reasonably priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great system I've had this rain barrel system for three weeks and so far feel it was a great purchase - I like that it is a "closed" system and that the lid can't be removed (I have young kids). I also like having two drains for filling a bucket or using a hose. Overall great system.

Does the top come off so that the inside can be cleaned periodically?

Also, is there a way for water to drain out of the top where a plant would go?
Asked by: DesignerAtLarge
The mesh screen can come off with just removing the 4 screws. Then add eco-safe cleaner and roll and drain. The flower pot at the top has a drain hole on the side so it is self draining.

Are these freeze resistant?

Asked by: nanadee1
I am in the Midwest so I leave spouts open in the fall until spring. I wouldn't leave water in it if it got below freezing for more than a few days.
