Thank you for your patience while we contacted the vendor to obtain an answer to your question regarding this item. We were able to confirm that to change the filter, simply switch off the pump. Reach into your biOrb and turn the bubble tube a quarter turn to release it. Then simply lift out the entire filter cartridge. Another quarter turn removes the filter which contains all the waste. Twist on a new filter. Place back into your biOrb, switch the pump on and you’re done.

We appreciate your interest in this item. To maintain this aquarium, simply replace the filter every 4 weeks and change 1/3 of the water. The 8 gallon aquarium can hold approximately 8 fish - using the 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon rule. This also depends on the size and shape of the fish.
