Extreme Weather?

We live in Utah . . . lots of snow in the winter and temperatures that get down to about 0 Farenheit at the worst.

Will this fountain be okay, assuming of course that we cover it?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in the Mirabella Fountain. If you follow the below advice, you should not have any issue keeping your fountain outdoors during the winter.

Before the temps drop below freezing be sure all the water is drained out of your fountain. Remove the pump if possible and store it indoors for the winter. Take this opportunity to get your pump cleaned thoroughly so debris, algae and dirt don't sit in your pump all winter.

Cold weather causes the water trapped in the pores to freeze and expand and this may cause the concrete to crack. To avoid this, ideally the water fountain should be allowed to dry up much before winter sets in and ensure it remains dry through the winter. Experts would also suggest reinforcing the foundation before any outdoor fountain is installed to avoid ground moisture from seeping into the concrete. You could also use surface sealers manufactured specifically for concrete surfaces that can applied as soon as the surface of the fountain is done. These sealers form a protective gel like layer that ensures the integrity of the surface and provides protection against the forces of nature.
