Essential EZ Bed Inflatable Guest Bed is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 1512.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from self-inflating twin bed fulfills all expectations We purchased the Essential EZ Bed for an impromtu visit by a teen-aged grandson. The bed (and the grandson!) performed up to all expectations. Moving the bed in its protective cover to the appropriate location was a breeze with the comfortable handle and the sturdy wheels. Unzip the cover, orient the bed in the direction you wish, plug it in, turn the switch to "inflate" and in less than 3 minutes you have a comfortable raised twin bed whose firmness can be controlled by the degree of inflation you permit. Deflation is just as easy; turn the switch to "deflate", collapse the sturdy metal supporting structure and zip the bed in its cover. Deflated, it takes up very little storage room and the dark cover makes it inconspicuous in most settings. It's a convenient way to intermittently expand your accommodations and to do so comfortably and economically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal backup guest bed When the last-minute need arose for an extra bed, we ordered this magnificent item. It arrived almost overnight, and when we plugged it in and turned the switch, it almost miraculously expanded all by itself, the feet folding down into their proper positions without us doing a thing. We gave our guests the master bedroom, and slept on the new inflatable ourselves, for three extremely pleasant and comfortable nights. Then, with another turn of the switch, it deflated itself automatically. A few nudges were needed to get the feet positioned, and we zipped up the package for long-term storage. What a great concept!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplest guest bed Watching the EZ bed inflate is a treat. Putting sheets on it is a dream compared with our previous raised airbed. A couple sheet grippers kept everything in place for our guests. With a 450 lb capacity, there was no worry that it wouldn't be up to the task of providing a good night's sleep.

Some reviews indicate leaks. How are these repaired.

Asked by: potentialuser
It comes with a (low quality) leak repair kit. Basically, a patch you put over the hole. The problem is: how do you FIND a leak on a surface this big? (think 10 tires). It shouldn't leak in the first place. Not at this price.

can this EZ bed inflatable be used daily

Asked by: fusion1950
We had this bed for many years with occasional use. Then my son and daughter-in-law needed a bed for daily use and used it for about two months, inflating and deflating every day. The frame could not take that kind of use. The mattress is still fine but the frame is shot. We are getting another one and keeping the old mattress.

Good for seniors? Does this creak?

I'm considering buying this for my mother when she visits. She's almost 80 and in poor health. Would this bed be easy for her to get in and out of? I had the original version of this. The support would creak every time you moved. I had to stuff washcloths underneath the mattress and underneath each leg of the bed to stop the noise. I finally gave up and got rid of it. Is the bed, when inflated, as silent as a standard bed when you change position?
Asked by: csandst1
Thank you for your interest in the Essential EZ Bed Inflatable Guest Bed. When inflated this item is 24"H making it easy to get in and out of. There may be some noise from the mattress fabric when you change position in the bed, but it should be minimal and unnoticeable. The frame itself should not creak as long as you do not exceed the weight capacity for each size.

Is it possible to put a skirt on this?

Asked by: Tonecaster
The only way would be to lay it over the top of the mattress and let it hang down. The legs are attached to the underside to the mattress.

The bed is deflating and can't figure where the leak is. Any suggestions on how to detect? Can't see any tears & can't hear leaking sound when press

Asked by: hostess10
You will have to top off the bed daily as the rubber stretches and there is some leakage. My guests liked a tight fill and woke in the morning with very minor deflation.

Can it be stored on its side?

Is it alright to have the bed stored upright on the small side with the wheels, as you would rolling luggage, instead of the larger bottom? It fits better this way in the closet.
Asked by: KevinB
yep, that is how I store my two EZ beds in my large closet and I have not had any problems. They are super easy to just roll in and out whenever I need them. Hope that helps!

After 5 years of perfect occasional weekend use I now have a small leak. Should I replace the mattress or repair (I haven't found the leak yet)?

We have used the EZ Bed for weekend house guests 5 or 6 times per year for the last 5 years. This weekend it has formed a leak that I can't find. Am I at the end of the expected life? Should I be looking to replace the mattress, or should I look harder for the leak?
Asked by: rcubed
I also have a leak. I found it . If you look at the bed from the bottom it is on the left underside by the top of the front foot. I blew it up had my husband lay on it, while my son got underneath to listen to where the leak was. You can hear it. We plan on patching it tomorrow.

How comfortable is this bed without the memory foam topper? If I get the topper how difficult is it to store? What size would it fold down to?

Asked by: Sharski
A topper is recommended. My son using it at college finds the bed very comfortable. We found a 3" topper for much less on a discount site and it works well with sheets and all on the bed. The topper stays on the bed, and can be rolled up when the bed is stored. The bed itself folds back into the self contained storage unit - great for moving around with the rollers, and depending on size of bed the size is provided by frontgate. The foam topper rolled up size will depend on the thickness you purchase. Ours at 3" for a twin bed can fold into a roll approximately 20-24" across.

Will regular sheets fit these beds?

Asked by: triski
Yes, we used regular twin sheets on this bed for my son using the bed at college. While they don't wrap completely under the mattress since attached to the frame (and we were a little curious how this would work) there is enough of a curve around the mattress to hold the fitted sheet in place. The flat sheet will not tuck in under the mattress, so it hangs over the bed - we just folded the end under the comforter so it didn't hang out.

Pet Friendly?

I need a new air mattress and would love to try this one out but I am afraid my cats put a hole in my last one and wonder how durable this mattress is and if it will survive 2 cats. They often get comfortable and scratch at things before falling asleep but they do have sharp claws and this mattress only has one year warranty. Would it be safe and dependable ?
Asked by: LynPerez
The material seems very durable, however, I'm not sure that any inflatable material can withstand a puncture. Perhaps a good solution would be to also get the foam topper that frontage sells to go with the mattress. The extra padding does make them extra comfy for both you and your little critter :)
