Great look!
Hoping the umbrella will not fray like the last one. A little difficult to assemble but a nice look.

Very nice.
Just purchased a second one. Purchased the first three years ago and love it. Has held up extremely well - we cover it when not in use and, of course, store the umbrella during the winter months. Looks and works like new. Highly recommend.

European Side-mount umbrella - good choice
This umbrella was more substantial and easier to assemble than we expected. Very high quality all around. You do need two people (one strong) to put it together, but it took less than an hour including filling the base. Operation is smooth and secure. The only minor downside is that the operator handle is too high for me (5' 5") to use, but I understand why it needs to be where it is. I just need a small step stool to reach it comfortably. Umbrella fabric is sturdy and beautiful.

Poor Quality
We bought this umbrella only two years ago hoping it was going to last but what a disappointment. After two seasons the rope that opens the canopy broke inside & the string fell out. There is no way to fix it. It's made of cheap string and clearly not the quality you would expect from Frontgate!

Pool umbrella
Very easy to put together and covers more than enough of the pool. Look forward to using it and protecting us from the hot Arizona sun.

Eurpoean Side-Mounted Umbrella
This Umbrella is fantastic. It is very well constructed, fairly easy to assemble, good looking, easy to operate and the coverage is huge. It can easily shade two lounge chairs or more. The umbrella can be moved in various positions by rotating the base in a circular position. The umbrella can also be tilted by turning the crank arm, which gives an added measure of flexibility in directing the shade. It's expensive but it is worth it.

Umbrella Really Performs!
This umbrella is fantastic. It works well and has given us a variety of options for shade on our deck. We're very pleased with the umbrella. The cover, on the other hand, is very poor quality and began to shred in the second year of use. It's also nearly impossible to find a reasonable replacement cover.

What is the base made of and do you have to move it inside during winter ?
Answers
Answer:
The base looks like a very heavy plastic. I would not think that you need to move it inside and it also may be difficult to do unless you empty out all the 200 lbs of sand.8 months ago
Answer:
The main part of the base is made of heavy duty plastic. The bottom has compartments which you fill with sand in order to weight it down so the umbrella will not tip over. it's a very heavy, solid umbrella. After the sand is in, there is a heavy duty plastic cover you put over the top of the sand-filled unit. You then put the pole, which is heavy duty metal, into a hole in the center of the base and secure it with a collar mechanism. We have only had ours about a month, but there is no easy way to move this umbrella, so no, you would not want to take it in during the winter. It weighs about 300 pounds.Length of Ownership: < 1 year

I have researched your question regarding the European Side Mount Umbrella and we would recommend checking the clamp ensuring it is secured right side up and that the pole is secure in the base. In the wind the umbrella does not stay in place, it keeps pivoting. How can I make it stay in one place and not move around?

Answer:
Dear JRTR,I had this same problem, being unable to tighten the ring above the base enough to keep the arm from rotating in the wind, Since my umbrella was on my deck, the canopy would stop when it wedged against my back wall; then I would swivel it back out when I needed space to close it. So in my confined space, the pivoting was not such a big issue.
If you are also unable to tighten the base ring enough, the only thing I can suggest for you would be to use several strands of strong transparent monofilament line (fishing line) and tie the end of the pole over the canopy to the closest solid structure (a wall or a tree) in the position you use it most often open for max shade. You could use a small stainless steel clip at one end, so you could move the umbrella later without detaching the cord. Think of it like a leash for a stubborn hound! This might keep the open umbrella from pivoting, be unobtrusive, and still allow you to close the umbrella without removing the "leash".
Hope this helps.

Can the umbrella be turned to cover a few lounge chairs and then back over the table?
Answers
Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this item. The umbrella will pivot 360 degrees around the base, allowing it to be used to cover lounge chairs, and then rotated to cover a table.Answer:
Dear FrankB4now,This umbrella seems to pivot very easily with just a push against the side of the pole, or a tug on the canopy, so you can move it around in a full circle, and direct the shade wherever you want it, whenever you need it.
However, in wind, the large canopy tends to act like a sail, and rotate by itself, and it is not easy to tighten the base ring enough to keep it in one position. You will need to talk to the company if you have a problem with this; I have suggested to another owner he might use fishing line to tie the top of the pole to something solid to keep it in one position. You might have other good ideas ... It is a wonderful umbrella, well made, and gives a lot of shade.

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this item. The base of the umbrella stand weighs approximately 30 lb. We recommend filling it with 200 lb of sand which would make the total weight approximately 230 lb.Answer:
Dear PVAZ,The umbrella base is a good quality plastic, and very light. You will need to add 200 lbs of playground sand (not water, which can evaporate) into its bottom half to stabilize the 100 lb long arm and canopy.
Since I have to move my umbrella every two years when my condo power washes my deck, I put the sand first into sturdy quart zip-lock plastic bags (2 bags for each, for extra strength), then pushed the bags together into the base. This way, I can remove the bags easily, then move the base, when I have to. But if your umbrella doesn't have to move, then you can just dump the sand in.

The ends of the ribs of the side mount umbrella have become detached from the center pole. silver
I have the 8 small, silver rods that held the rib ends in place, but how do I re-attach them? Do you have a more complete manual than the instructions included with the umbrella? Thanks.
