I like!
I am happy with the umbrella thus far. It was a bit of a challenge to put together though. I like the ability to pivot and tilt, and it is a good size. I wish it was on wheels too, that would make it perfect.

Poor Quality
We bought this umbrella hoping it was going to last but what a disappointment. After one season the rope either came undone or broke inside. There is no way to fix it. It's made of cheap plastic and clearly not the quality you would expect from Frontgate.

Looks awesome
Great quality, crank operates smoothly, wonderful coverage under the 11' canopy. Only negative - which other reviewers had warned of - the wind does catch the umbrella and swivel away. The ring that tightens to prevent this is very stiff and hard to cinch down.

Beautiful Side Mount Umbrella
Sets up quickly, easy to manipulate features. Looks great. Clearly well built. I have nothing but good things to say about this purchase. We have had it for about a month and we have received many compliments from our guests.

excellent umbrella
This is a very nice-easy to assemble LARGE umbrella. Make sure you have your 200 lbs of sand for the base-I thought we could use water but instructions called for sand!!! As others have written..it takes TWO people to put it together only because its aqkward to lift the umbrella that is attached to the longer pole..its not because its too heavy.. a word of caution...make SURE you know where you want the umbrella stand to be-THAT cannot be moved very easily once its filled with wet sand!!!

Good value
I live in Charlotte where there are several great outdoor stores. This umbrella was the best design and function I found for the money. The design is elegant and it's easy to set up and use. It's a terrific product.

european side mount umbrella
Disappointed with the quality of our new umbrella. We purchased a side mount umbrella from Frontgate 9 years ago and were very satisfied. I don't think we will feel the same nine years from now with this new one.

European Side-mount Umbrella
Awsome Umbrella! Large & looks beautiful over a set of lounge chairs by the pool. Very sturdy and well constructed. We are very happy and plan to purchase a second Umbrella. If you have an area that is full sun most of the day, this European side-mount Umbrella is the perfect solution.

Nice cover
We just received this so I can't evaluate its durability. It appears to be good quality. It does cover the entire umbrella. It will be good to see how it handles winter. I gave this 3 stars because there is actually a cover provided with the umbrella that is pretty nice. You would only need this cover if you are leaving out during winter/bad weather.

Beautiful umbrella
We purchased this umbrella less than a month ago and are using it in our backyard in Houston. The umbrella arrived promptly, packed professionally and in perfect condition. The instructions were not the easiest to follow, but two of us got the umbrella set up in under a half hour. The opening/closing mechanism is a bit high for someone 5'5", but a stool or a taller family member make it no problem at all. The final resting spot of the umbrella isn't exactly where we thought it would be, but we had filled the base initially with water (and a little chlorine bleach) so we could move it to just the right spot with the least amount of effort. We wanted to shade a flagstone/grass section of the yard adjacent to the pool, and the umbrella is indeed a great addition to the yard. The ability to move and angle the umbrella makes it very functional for us and useful throughout of the day.

Great Umbrella, Heavy So a Bit Hard to Assemble!
First I will say that this umbrella is of high quality - large, very sturdy, very flexible with tilting, easy to open and close given it's size. For the price it is a great buy and I think we will be very happy with it. Assembling it was a bit of a challenge - you really need two strong people - my husband and I were able to work together to set it up, but I would recommend a stronger helper than I was. Also you need about 150 pounds of sand for the base, so plan for that before you start to set it up.

Cantilevered unbrella
We were very pleased with the rapid delivery and even more pleased with the finished product. I was able to put it up with one person. We shopped this to death looking at anything from $300 to $1500 in cantilever unbrellas and we couldn't be more pleased with having bought a good upscale product that's very versatile and I suspect will last for years. Tilts easily and can really be adjusted to protect you from even the evening sun. Assuming it holds up well, it will have exceeded all of our expectations.

Nice addition to our pool area
The umbrella was easy to assemble with good directions. It is definitely a two person job but only took a few minutes once the sand was added to the base. I am very pleased with the ease of operation although the controls are too high for anyone less than 5' 2" without standing on the base. It would be nice if the color choices matched Sunbrella - we would have liked to match the 'Brick' color of our furniture cushions but the 'Auburn' in the umbrella photos did not look like a match so we chose 'Taupe' and it is nicely neutral. It looks great on the deck and will provide much needed shade for our new Palermo seating group!

Happy with decision
After researching side umbrellas extensively at local stores and those available through catalogs, I decided on this umbrella. I couldn't be more satisfied with my final decision. Not only was it reasonably priced, but It looks great, it is easy to work, and it is well constructed. After ordering, it was delivered 3 days later and easy to assemble. I highly recommend.

Quality product and quick delivery
The umbrella arrived ahead of scheduled delivery and in great condition. It was easy to set-up and makes such a difference on our deck with our furniture. We are spending more time outside now.

Much Needed Purchase

Fantastic product!
Simple and quick to assemble (definitely need two people to lift the umbrella assembly into the support bracket). Exceptional quality and ease of operation. Pole to lift cover over top of umbrealla is a nice touch. Definitely recommended.

Easy Assembly
After reading other reviews I expected the assembly to be more difficult than it actually turned out to be. Filling the sand into the base - no problem. Attaching the frame - easy with two persons.
In order to move the umbrella around on our patio I set the base on a sheet of outdoor plywood with four casters. Now I can use it everywhere.
Great quality product for the price.

Beautiful Umbrella
This umbrella is not only spectacular to look at, it is sturdy and extremely well made. Our outdoor patio is very breezy, with little protection and this umbrella holds beautifully. Easy open/close and even easy slipcover. Does take two to assemble, but done in less than 30 minutes. I highly recommend this umbrella to anyone that has the space for it.

Best umbrella on the market!
I absolutely LOVE this umbrella. I had looked for over a year at different side mount umbrellas and this is by far the best one. It was fairly easy to put together, but we needed another guy to help my husband put the umbrella in the stand, not because it was heavy but because it was sort of awkward. Ordinary market umbrellas only shaded an area away from the seating all day long but this one can be moved with the sun, so the shade is always over the seating area. It tilts and moves 360 degrees easily and covers a wide area. The only negative thing is that I have to stand on the base to crank it open as it is a little too tall for an average height woman. (I am 5'4") Our backyard can get very windy so I was concerned about this (we have lost two market umbrellas in the pool to gusty winds) The best part of this umbrella is that when we had hurricane winds of about 70 miles per hour, we zipped on the cover and bungie corded the umbrella to the stand and it did not budge. I love this umbrella and highly reccomend it for quality, looks, and price. It is well worth it!

11' side mount umbrella
Love this umbrella. We've had it for two summers now, and it's still easy to open and it covers a huge area. It was less than half the cost of a similar unit I saw in a patio store. Also, a friend bought the cheaper version (thinner pole diameter) sold by other vendors, and theirs died after one summer. This unit will likely last for years. One note: you'll need two people to put it together, and buy a few bags of sand to put into the base.

Love this Umbrella!!!
This is the greatest umbrella we have... out of the three we have in our yard. It is so big that it covers our complete outdoor sectional -- and protects us from the rain so we can still eat outside in bad weather!

Better than advertised
This umbrella is huge. I thought it might be small for our rooftop terrace but it is perfect. Stays steady during pretty good winds, which concerned me initially. Its assembly and operation is pretty straightforward. To get the sand into the base takes a bit of patience, so use a toy shovel or small scoop. Great buy!

You may need a ladder.First, close the umbrella canopy and move it as close as possible to the tubular arm.
Place the cover on top of the umbrella canopy (the zipper should close downward and the ties should be at the bottom)..
Move the cover down, while enclosing the umbrella and the tubular arm, close the zipper.
Tie the ties around the bottom of the cover. Click on picture below to see the cover on the umbrella.

A little late for this... but you need to decide first which way you want to block the sun before you place the umbrella and fill it up with the 200 lbs of sand. The umbrella only tilts one way and that is with the back to the tubular base.Extend the umbrella and open the canopy like you normally do (placing the crank handle in Socket A (upper hole), extending all the way and then in Socket B (lower hole), opening the canopy all the way.
Then to tilt it, go back to Socket A (upper hole) and using the crank handle move it counter-clockwise until you achieve the desired tilt.
Click on "Overview" (Umbrella, website) to see last sentence "View simple...", instruction manual, page 4 for complete instructions.
