European Umbrella...bad design and quality.
I purchased two of these umbrellas. Basically, they are worthless...a small breeze will tilt the canopy to an unusable position. The canopy turns with the wind, so it cannot be positioned over a table or sitting area. The cover came complete apart during the winter.
FG should be ashamed to offer this product.

This is an awesome umbrella to go over all of your furniture and stay in the shade. Easy to assemble and beautiful to look at.

ALL GOOD EXCEPT UMBRELLA SHIFTS IN WIND. THE TIGHTNING MECHANISM IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO KEEP IT STABLE.

Nice umbrella
once we got it put together, the umbrella was great. However, it took three of us to do it. Instructions were very sparse. Also I noticed that in a wind, the umbrella turns by itself. The base can't be tightened enough to ensure that a wind won't turn it around.

GREAT PRODUCT
We live in Florida and it gets unbearably hot by the pool, this product allows us to enjoy our pool in the summer heat, would highly recommend, expensive but worth it

Umbrella
Really good/ Easy to assemble, once you get the sand in the base. Upper half moves smoothly and umbrella covers a goos area. The only soft spot is the linkage between the pole and the base. It is supposed to be held still from rotation by a big plastic screw-down dome, but the mechanism does not hold well in a wind.

Best Shade Provider
Received the European Side-mount 11' Umbrella that I ordered. It arrived and has performed as expected with easy operation and an unique look. The kiwi color is just the right color not too bold and not too light.

LOVE this umbrella!
Not sure what some of the other reviewers are talking about. Yes, the crank thing is pretty high up and you have to stand on the base to reach it, but no this umbrella was not a huge deal to assemble. Buy 200 lbs play sand at the store, gradually fill the base alternating with water, then get a friend to help you put the umbrella into the base. I like how it swivels all the way around to cover either my deck seating area or my deck dining table. Price seems expensive until you price out similar low quality ones at pool/hot tub stores. High quality canvas, sturdy metal base, easy adjustments. Fast ground shipping, excellent packaging. Glad the UPS guy left it behind my house near the deck instead of on the front porch (very heavy box). I'm expecting this to last many years and hope to enjoy it as much as I have these first two weeks.

GREAT PURCHASE
Love the flexibility of being able to turn the umbrella to cover either a table or a different area of my patio.
The umbrella itself looks great and the opening and closing operation works well.
The only minor problem I had was the lack of instructions on how to put the cover on. After a few tries , we finally got it on.

Great Umbrella!!

european umbrella problems
Unfortunately, the top pole aluminum retainer bent relatively easily in a wind with the lower swivel engaged and the umbrella folded away in its cover. The swivel should be left loosened when not in use. No instructions were given with the umbrella to do this.
Also the upgraded cover does not come with any mounting device or pole to make it easy to cover the umbrella.

Amazing Umbrella
This is well worth the $$. Shopped around for a long time. Excellent square footage coverage...very large. Very high quality materials. Great piece of engineering in terms of the neck extending. Simple, simple set up. Love this item. Also, Frontgate shipped this incredibly fast. I had it 3 days after ordering.

It's beautiful...love it
I love this umbrella. It's a nice quality product. It definitely takes two adults to assemble but once up you're all set. Make sure you have where you want it the base is heavy if you have to move it.I'm glad I spent the money on this.

Great Umbrella!
Wish I had ordered it sooner! Looked at this umbrella in the catalog last summer and finally made a purchase. I couldn't be happier with the quality and function. The instructions didn't seem as difficult as other reviewers had mentioned. In fact, my husband and I had it standing over our pool in just over 30 minutes - including the time it took to fill the base with sand. It rotates easily and provides much shade. The base is compact and unobtrusive -- the overall look of the umbrella is definitely high-quality. My husband had no problem with the crank mechanism, but I can see how it may be hard to reach for someone 5ft 5" or shorter. This umbrella will make enjoying our backyard much easier when the temperature climbs!

Dining under a canopy
We recently received this umbrella and it already survived the first Floridian rainstorm that caught us by surprise. The umbrella did not fold or tip over. Nonethless, when expecting heavy winds, I would collaps the canopy as I would any other umbrella. This is truely a beautiful umbrella that offers plenty of shade. We are very pleased! The base is sturdy and big enough to support the canopy without being in the way. Rotating, opening, and closing the umbrella is very simple. Assembly is easy, although the instructions confused us more than they helped. Maybe that is why they were not included in the package and we had to download them. Make sure you have all parts. In our case the crank handle to open the canopy was missing, but Frontgate shipped overnight. Customer service was very helpful.

Great quality and utility
This sets the standard for what an umbrella should do. It is easy to assemble (a two person task but an easy one for two folks), beautiful addition to your patio and a very functional design.

European Side-mount 11' Umbrella
Great product. Very sturdy and it works as advertised. The manual could be a bit more detailed as far as how to put it together. I do wish it could tilt from side to side. Regardless, we are very happy with it and it provides great shade for our pool.

Love This Umbrella!
We were looking for something that would provide a good amount of shade for our patio. Since we live in PA, we also need to be able to store it for winter. We absolutely love this umbrella. The quality cant be beat. I ordered the auburn and the color is perfect, not too bright. I am 5'4" tall and although the crank is a little high, i can reach it without problem standing on the base. I can also get the cover on myslef. Very easy to assemble. Would recommend this for sure.

Great Sun Blocking Umbrella
The finished product has impressed us so far. Set up was fairly simple but required some effort. Filling the base with sand was time consuming and then placing the pole in the stand requires 2 strong men!
Our only complaint is the hand cranks are too high for someone under 5'4" without standing on the base. And due to the base footprint, using a footstool is impossible. Will provide an update on the durability of the base.

The best umbrella you will ever own!
This umbrella is absolutely wonderful! We had an older version of this umbrella for years and it held up great. We just bought this newer version to match our new patio furniture and we are still in love with it. It shades wonderfully and even on the windest of days, it has NEVER blown over! Great product and worth the $$$

You may need a ladder.First, close the umbrella canopy and move it as close as possible to the tubular arm.
Place the cover on top of the umbrella canopy (the zipper should close downward and the ties should be at the bottom)..
Move the cover down, while enclosing the umbrella and the tubular arm, close the zipper.
Tie the ties around the bottom of the cover. Click on picture below to see the cover on the umbrella.

A little late for this... but you need to decide first which way you want to block the sun before you place the umbrella and fill it up with the 200 lbs of sand. The umbrella only tilts one way and that is with the back to the tubular base.Extend the umbrella and open the canopy like you normally do (placing the crank handle in Socket A (upper hole), extending all the way and then in Socket B (lower hole), opening the canopy all the way.
Then to tilt it, go back to Socket A (upper hole) and using the crank handle move it counter-clockwise until you achieve the desired tilt.
Click on "Overview" (Umbrella, website) to see last sentence "View simple...", instruction manual, page 4 for complete instructions.
