Gigaset Home Office Phone System 3.6 5 34 35
Awesome Home Office Phone - Great sound! I setup my home office phone using a VOIP line. Prior to using my Gigaset, the sound quality was ok. Since I started using my new Siemens Gigaset phone, the sound is simply amazing. I can do my phone and conference calls as if I was in the office. I also purchased a couple handsets and the whole package is working flawlessly so far. I am very pleased with my purchase. November 9, 2012
Extremely unhappy with purchase We have been very disappointed with this phone system. The clarity is poor. The ring tone options are poor. We will be getting a different system. We have always been happy with our purchases from Frontgate but not this one. October 25, 2012
Frustrating phone Believe the reviews! For all of the features this phone claims to have - they simply are too frustrating to use. For example... You can't adjust the volume and dial at the same time. Adjusting the volume locks the key pad for about 5 seconds. The menu levels are poorly thought out and not intuitive. Dialing a stored number requires you to select 3 menu layers deep. October 13, 2012
Great functions, difficult setup Phone is a great piece of engineering. Has a PBX built-in for multiple SIP accounts, and once setup sound quality and functionality are second to none, even on a VOIP call. That said, "once setup" is a long long process. I'm a technical guy and even I had trouble setting up the SIP accounts for VOIP connections, and basically had to experiment to get the right setup (took almost three days). The admin interface doesn't always catch correctly in Firefox so even when you're putting the correct credentials in, it appears you're not. If you unplug, reboot and save it again with those same credentials, it may connect to the SIP accounts correctly and you'll be ready to roll. This is not a phone for a non-technical audience, or for an audience without technical support easily available. The admin interface is comprehensive, but not ready for prime-time and is kind of buggy. And because it's not a terribly popular phone, there's not a lot of documentation out there, or a community to have gone through the pains before you. That said, if you're willing to make it through that painful period of configuration, you won't be disappointed. Once configured, it's one of the best phones I've ever used (in terms of appearance, functions, and sound quality). September 11, 2012
This is NOT a regular 2 or 4 line system I love the phone system, but it is NOT a phone system to use with more than 1 landline, you can have up to 4 lines ONLY if you use VoIP, (or Voice over Internet Protocol), not 2 landlines like the ones I have. It took me a long time to set it up, and couldn't figure why I didn't have a line 1 and line 2 buttons, and it is because it only takes 1 landline and if you want more lines, you MUST have VoIP which I don't so I had to return it. Good System - Need to be slightly Technically Savy I love this phone system. Works very well in my home and looks great on my desk. When using the speaker phone or one of the 3 handsets the sound is crystal clear and I here many compliments as to how clear I sound. I work from home and I am usually on the phone most of the day so I can really appreciate some of the features this system offers. I use the Cell2Bluetooth connectivity to forward calls that come through my corporate blackberry to both the base and the handset I set up in my garage and it saves me from radiation generated by the cell phone. I setup up a quick dial feature to dial directly into my conference bridge, log me in and start the conference call which saves me a lot of number punching and time. I have it plugged into my home network and I use a direct phone line. But you can do VOIP if you have an account with a provider. The phone acts like a Ethernet switch so I plug my PC into as well as it saves you from needing 2 connections. You can also connect your FAX machine to it saving you from making or running another phone line connection. I disabled all 3 answering machines and setup the message button to dial into my cable providers voicemail system. I setup the little display system on the base to scroll my local weather across the screen as well. It does it for all of the handsets. The only bad thing that I could complain about is the manual. It looks like who ever translated it from German to English did a bad job. I am used to reading technical specs from people overseas so I was able to decipher a lot of the confusing information. Excellent Product/Outstanding Value The Siemens Gigaset offers Transmission clarity, and dependability in a feature rich and nicely constructed product. May 16, 2012
Gigaset - very user unfriendly! My wife purchased the Gigaset based on glowing description in your catalog. For a German made product we were surprised at its cheap appearance and feel. Although the system may have many features it is extremely user unfriendly particularly on initial hook-up. After struggling for about four hours with a myriad of instructions I gave up and boxed up the set for return. I concluded that even had we succeeded in getting the Gigaset to function we would have to constantly decipher how to operate it. No thanks! May 6, 2012
Very nice, glad I purchased it. Fits nice on my desk. Especially like the calling number display. Calendar an excellent feature. April 13, 2012
Gigaset Home Office Phone Definitely not worth the money. Difficult to program. There is a long delay when making a call. Cannot program phone to show correct date. April 11, 2012
Great Phone This phone was purchased for our Home Office . It looks beautiful a nd we, Love ,the calender on the front of the phone . It also has an unusual ring so you know which customers are calling . You will not be disappointed , Buy it now . everyone who sees it loves it!!! April 10, 2012
Not my best purchase This phone looks good, but is just too hard to program and figure out how to use it. I read some of the other reviews stating this, but I just figured it was written by someone who was not familiar with office equipment, but they were right. I chose it because you can adjust the volume, but it's not as useful as I thought. March 14, 2012
Phone did not meet expectations I purchased the Gigaset DX 800A and 6 handsets. While the phone is nice, it is not functional in my home. For instance, when a call comes in on the desk station, I can not pick up the call on a handset without first pressing the INT key on the desk station. This is not practical in a house with several people all using the phones. Some times the answering machine worked, and other times it went into our AT&T answering service, I am afraid I will have to replace this system with one that works better in our household. March 4, 2012
returned purchase The quality was cheap and very difficult to figure out!!! I returned the entire set ): February 29, 2012
Just get a US VOiP provider - ViaTalk It was a bear trying to get it set up until I found ViaTalk, one of Gigaset's recommendations. ViaTalk are located in NY and have real people answering their customer service phone. Between ViaTalk CS and Gigaset's CS, I was able to get things running well. Although I spent a week trying to get it to work before I found ViaTalk. Very happy now. Frontgate CS and or tech support should be providing the recommendations and contact info. It would cut down on their returns. Clearity - *****. Functionality - *****. I am now recommending it to my employees and family. February 15, 2012
Gigaset The telephone has a sharp clear reception. It Might take some time to set up properly, but once that is done , the system proves to be a reliable one ane user friendly February 3, 2012
Nice Phone This is a very nice phone. There are so many options for the different types of phone service available. The optional wireless handsets are nice too. I also like being able to import my contacts so they don't have to be input into the phone directory manually. January 28, 2012
Great Phone It is everything it says. Screen is bright and easy to see. Handsets are light and easy to use. Great phone! January 25, 2012
Not Ready for Prime Time I really wanted to like this phone, but it's inherent design flaws are too much to bear. Like many things, it looks great on paper but the deficiencies become glaringly apparent once in use. For example, it does not have the ability to allow two people to talk on the same line through two handsets at the same time unless you go through a complicated "conference call" procedure. Just plain stupid. There are numerous other issues, just not the space to explain them all here. I'll be returning it. January 25, 2012
Not For Everyone While the styling is gorgeous and the battery life very impressive, this system is not for everyone. Specifically, the system's phone behavior is strange (especially if you're replacing an old Siemens Gigaset or existing conventional phones) in a home setting. When answering a call, all other handsets (including the corded base) are locked-out. Said another way, if someone answers a call in the master bedroom, you can't simply pick up the handset in kitchen to join the call. The call must first be transferred from the active handset using the intercom function. The process to do this is overly complicated, especially for younger or older members of the family. There is no way to simply put a call on hold and pick it up in another room. This behavior might be desirable in an office environment, but makes little sense at home. Gigaset should consider a firmware update to allow for a more traditional home phone behavior. Other details that users may find inconvenient include the inability to change the number of rings before the answering machine answers a call, no built-in WiFi (the phone must be hard-wired to your home network to take advantage of computer dialing or IP phone calls) and a slight sluggishness when dialing. January 22, 2012
Too complicated I wish someone would make a simple, reliable land line phone. I had hoped this could be it. This one interferes with our existing message pick-up system. It's in our bedroom and its lights are so bright we have to cover the phone at night. When it arrived, it was set in the internet mode, and it was hard to get it to work as a phone. The designers seemed more excited about being techno-forward than in producing something practical. January 20, 2012
Gigaset home office corded phone I found this phone to be well made and a high end tool for an office that has multiple lines and communications avenues, e.g., VOIP, it can be a challenge for non-technical individuals. My wife most often supports our use of current technology and can navigate well enough. But the Gigaset was her tipping point... I returned the phone set but am using a NON-office Seimens Gigaset product for the home. January 17, 2012
Outstanding Telephone The telephone has many features not found on any other telephone I have ever seen. The sound quality is crystal clear. Also the 1,000 name and number directory means no more pieces of paper on your desk. I am very happy with the Gigaset telephone, I bought two of them. January 9, 2012
Great phone purchase This was a great purchase, especially if you buy the handsets that go along with the gigaset phone. January 9, 2012
Gigaset Home Office Phone System This is the best home office phone system I have ever purchased. The intital system set-up was time consuming although specific and detail instructions were easy to follow. The clarity, multi-function and dispaly panel is superior and a must for any serious home and office users. Great find, great purchase. Thank you Frontgate! January 4, 2012
Best phone system ever! I have had my phone 2 weeks. I am very pleased with everything about it! It has so many capabilities with its bluetooth connections and I love the sound instead of the ring when we receive a call. I like it being almost like a cell phone in every respect except taking photos. It does so much more than other phones such as keeps a calendar, notes anniversaries, reminds you about appointments, etc. Wow! I never dreamed all of this was possible! I tried to think of something I didn't like, but so far I can't come up with one thing. October 8, 2011

Answer:
A non Gigaset hand set remote will not work. The Gigaset is a PABX system and when used as such the components must be compatible. However, the Gigaset can be used in a "plain" mode w/ single analog phone line set up with your personal phone directory is an awesome machine.
