iCoffee ® by Remington ® Steam Brew Coffee Maker 3.8 5 16 16
good things take time In a world of Mcmansions, microwaves, and the world at your fingertips with a Google search, I sometimes think that people forget that good things take time and effort. The first thrilling thing in coffee was when they stopped selling americans the inferior coffee beans and we were able to buy arabica bean coffee. The next thing was being able to get good brewed coffee when on the road. This coffee maker is the third great thing and yes, it isn't instant coffee. It makes coffee that reminds me of the old fashioned perculator coffee...no acid taste, full body and correct temperature. I use a knockbox for the used grounds and a soft bristle baby bottle brush to finish the filter cleaning so I don't really find the cleanup time to be all consuming. But at the end...it's about the coffee and it makes an excellent cup. We will have to see if it is durable since it is so much plastic. March 9, 2014
Icoffee Nice! While I believe it to be overpriced a tad - we bit and got it based upon some reviews we'd read about. It's quite nice - it, in our opinion, has the brewing method like the old percolator did - based upon steam. That said, it's brews a very decent cup of java. Initially, when the pot is brewed, it has a sort of frothy look on top of it and unlike most that buzz when the pot is brewed this one plays a little tune - sort of cute! Yes, you can stop the tune and go to a buzz if desired! Anyway the only other idiosyncrasy we have with it is it appears the cover to the pot doesn't come off hence one has to wash it by hand; surely not the end of the world but it's our ding. Our kids are joking that we've gotten a hip sort of coffee pot as it's cool looking not to speak of its name. So while overpriced - if you're a coffee lover - you may want to get this - it's definitely a great change from the same-old-same-old and other typical brand coffee makers we'd been using for years and years! Oh and it has a filter if one doesn't like residue in their pot of coffee - we've not used it yet as we don't see it to be an issue for us anyway. February 26, 2014
A lot of work It makes smooth tasting coffee but I am getting tired of the process of making the coffee. Either before or after you have to clean out the metal mesh basket, rinse the pot, and mesh basket holder and wash out the smaller basket that fits in the top of the pot. Without being able to use a filter, the grounds stick to the mesh and rods around the mesh. I use a lot of water trying to flush them out. When I didn't use the smaller basket I ended up with lots and lots of sediment in my cup. You have to wait extra for the smaller basket to drain in the pot or you will be pouring that sediment in your cup as well. March 4, 2014
Simply The Best Coffee You Will Ever Brew Anyone considering purchasing the iCoffee steam and brew has likely fallen victim to the advertising claims of all its competitors. I have purchased nearly every top rated coffee maker on the market and none of them have come close to this machine. Watch the videos, read what Consumer Reports has to say, then by this coffeemaker. So rarely does a manufacturer's claims live up to its actual performance, iCoffee completely breaks the mold. If you're looking for a dainty cup of coffee stick with Starbucks :) This machine produces an actual cup of coffee that is shockingly similar to a French press but in a fraction of the time. You will taste what coffee beans actually taste like before you filter out the flavor with paper filters and drip on a pile of coffee grounds in three spots. FRONTGATE has a money back guarantee so you got nothing to lose, get it, you will be glad you did. December 23, 2013
I-Coffee Review Makes great coffee...with less grounds. BUT A huge pain to clean and takes way too much water to rinse used grounds out of basket and they go down the drain. That's a big design problem for my use. February 20, 2014
Poor quality I am very disappointed with the brewed coffee quality. It does not stand up to the Remington comment. I regret that I wasted my money on this product I would never recommend this coffee maker to anyone February 1, 2014
Top notch brewer I highly recommend this brewer. The coffee is always hot, rich and smooth tasting. Watching the crema form through the window is as addicting as the coffee taste. I have stopped buying expensive coffee grounds, this brewer makes every coffee taste expensive! Love it! November 22, 2013
Use the product before reviewing I purchased this product, and was so excited to get it and enjoy my coffee! However, once I received it I was disappointed with it. It took much too long to brew. It was mostly made of plastic for the price I paid and it took a lot of time to clean. Overall I don't think it was worth the price. January 8, 2014

Answer:
The vast majority of coffeemakers ( drip) heated water and simply drop it on ground coffee with the idea that it will have enough contact with the coffee to extract the coffee oils which ultimately give it its flavor. This coffee maker heats water over 190° and uses a patented steam jet to swirl the coffee and water together maximizing the extraction rate. The result is about the richest couple of coffee you'll ever have. It's incredibly similar to French press without all the hassle. To compare this to any other coffee maker is futile, it's like comparing the differences between a Volkswagen and a Porsche.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. The iCoffee ® by Remington ® Steam Brew Coffee Maker does differ from a standard drip coffee maker.

On most coffee makers, there is a shower head. Water arrives here from the water tube and is sprayed over the coffee grounds. In some coffee makers, the water comes out of the hose onto a perforated plastic disc called the drip area and simply falls through the holes into the coffee grounds.

The iCoffee has a patented six-jet system, which turns, tumbles, and spins the grounds to reveal more surface area and completely extract all oils from the coffee. Essentially, more of the grounds are exposed to the water, giving your coffee more flavor.
