Aluminum is a lightweight metal with a bright, silvery lustre. Strong, moveable and resistant to the elements, it makes an ideal material for outdoor enhancements.

The metal's affinity for oxygen makes it resistant to corrosion and attack by most chemicals. Most aluminum items are lacquered or otherwise coated, anodized, or painted.

Aluminum reacts with air to form its own thin oxide coating very quickly. This hard, dark gray coating protects the metal and is found on all bare aluminum surfaces. If rubbed on another material, this coating will leave a dark gray mark.

A commercial process, called "anodizing", thickens this coat and often colors it. Anodizing produces a very hard, darker finish that does not rub off.

Your aluminum product will require little to no maintenance. To clean, simply wipe with a soft cloth (damp or dry) or featherbrush. Do not use any liquids containing detergents or cleaners.
