Four-speaker I-Sonic ® Technology

Polk's Four-speaker I-Sonic ® technology is a revolutionary way to launch stereo sound into a room. It delivers rich, room-filling stereo sound 360° around the entertainment system. With I-Sonic ® technology, listeners enjoy a big-life-like stereo image wherever they are in the room.

Polk's engineering breakthrough changes the rules for small system performance. Conventional table-top systems "beam" the sound straight towards the listener, even those with two speakers. At best, these designs can create a stereo soundfield for someone seated directly facing the unit. It's not at all satisfying for any other listeners in the room.

Only Polk's exclusive, patent-pending I-Sonic ® design lets everyone in the room enjoy the rich sound. The I-Sonic stereo soundfield is projected all around. No matter where you are in the room, you experience true stereo sound.

PowerPort ® Venting Technology

PowerPort ® venting technology belts out the kind of rich powerful bass you'd expect from much larger, free-standing stereo speakers. Bass ports redirect the sound created by the back of the speaker cone into the room. But, conventional bass ports lose efficiency and create distortion because of air turbulence at the mouth of the port.

PowerPort ® vastly reduces air turbulence at the port mouth thereby reducing distortion and increasing bass output. This is the same technology used in Polk's legendary Signature Reference Theater system. In the I-Sonic ® ES2, PowerPort ® delivers sound that is rich and warm, making all of your music and movies sound life-like and satisfying.

iTunes ® Tagging Technology

With an iTunes ® Tagging enabled HD Radio ™ receiver, you can hear a song on the radio you really like, tag that song with the I-Sonic ® Entertainment System, and purchase it. Simply hit the "tag" button, and the song's info will be saved from your HD Radio ™ receiver to your iPod ®. The songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes ® the next time you sync your iPod ® to your computer. So you can click, download and buy the songs you want directly from the Apple ® iTunes ® Music Store.

HD Radio ™

HD Radio ™; is the most significant advancement in radio broadcasting since the introduction of FM stereo more than 50 years ago. HD Radio ™ technology enables AM and FM radio stations to broadcast their programs digitally – a tremendous technological leap from the analog broadcasts of the past.

HD Radio ™ offers static-free, crystal-clear reception with CD-quality sound from FM stations and the richness of FM-analog stereo sound quality from AM stations. HD Radio ™ also allows broadcasters to multicast program streams over a single FM frequency (e.g. 97.7-1, 97.7-2, etc.) to offer additional content to serve multiple audiences. A variety of data services that range from text-based information — artist name, weather alerts, school closings, traffic alerts, etc. — can be scrolled across the receiver display.
