Lightweight Inflatable EZ Bed 4.2 5 40 40
Wonderful addition This inflatable bed came highly recommended by a friend who suffers with multiple orthopaedic issues and actually takes his bed with him when he goes on overnight visits away from home. We purchased a similar size and model. We have used it only twice, but each time, our houseguest commented on the comfort and ease of use. I particularly appreciate the ease of set up, quick put-away, constant air pressue (thanks to the auto airpump), and convenient storage because of it's self contained with it's own carrying case. The only downside is its size, like an oversized piece of luggage on wheels. Aside from that, it's a wonderful product; and would definitely recommend. February 8, 2015
Smart Addition WE LIKED THE TWO QUEEN SIZE LIGHTWEIGHT INFLATABLE EZ BEDS WE PURCHASED BEFORE CHRISTMAS SO WELL WE BOUGHT A THIRD. THESE BEDS REALLY MAKE SO MUCH SENSE. WE HAVE A LARGE FAMILY TO STAY OVERNIGHT DURING HOLIDAYS. DURING THE DAY THE BEDS ARE FOLDED COMPACTLY IN A PORTION OF A CLOSET TAKING NONE OF THE LIVING SPACE. AT NIGHT WHEN THE LIVING SPACE IS NO LONGER BEING USED IT BECOMES SLEEPING SPACE. THEY SAVED US FROM BUILDING THREE MORE BEDROOMS ONTO OUR HOUSE. ADDITIONALLY, THEY ARE SO EASY TO SET UP AND TAKE DOWN. WHEN IN USE, THEY REQUIRE A SURPRISINGLY SMALL AMOUNT OF SPACE. January 21, 2015
EZ Bed Purchased this item as an immediate need...and have had it for at least 5 years. Unpacks and packs easy - just don't rush it. The problems I have encountered: the plastic lining that the bed slides out on has hardened, cracked, and broken off after 2yrs - this is probably because it was stored in too hot of an area, but did not impact performance and I consider this minor. Mattress has a slight plastic smell -still - Febreeze works well. Recommend thick mattress pad cover. After 5 years, real minor air leak, probably at pump. Have to pump a little air in after 2 days of being inflated and slept on - about 5 seconds of pump time - Really minor. I am buying the lighter one and giving the original to the kids. This was most definitely worth the purchase. October 30, 2014
Almost perfect The directions make it difficult to tell which EZ Bed I purchased. The directions do not explain how the refilling of the air in the mattress happens over night. Although the bed did seem to stay inflated without loosing air. The person sleeping in the bed did not complain about a noise or loosing the air in the mattress, so it must have worked. Lightweight inflatable EZ Bed The bed arrived sooner than I expected and it was super EZ to set up. It looked great. However, our guests found it very uncomfortable after one nap and moved to a nearby hotel. A great disappointment, and I will be returning it. January 10, 2015
Extra Guests Exceptional product for the cost over the cheaper EZ Bed. Easy to inflate and deflate. Guest were very comfortable and never heard the air pump maintaining the 'firm' pressure setting. January 8, 2015
EZ Peaszy Bed We purchased this inflatable bed based on a review in The Wall Street Journal that named it the best of the choices (2014). Very easy to inflate and stayed inflated the entire night (we purchased the model with continuous inflation which surprisingly does not make a sound as compared to the actual inflating and deflating of the bed). We had to search for the instructions on how to inflate and operate the bed. They were attached to the power cord behind a package labelled patches - they should be far more prominent. Definitely need a themopedic pad, feather bed or something on top of the mattress before the sheets as the plastic is slippery and cold. We used our regular California deep pocket sheets over yoga mats anda featherbed for the initial sleep. We'll get a thermopedic pad for sure. EZ bed is a good solution for an extra bed, easy to use, but bulky to store due to the size of the case. August 18, 2014
Godsend for small space dwellers This lived up to it's hype. Easy to use, most comfortable(adjustable firmness) opens and closes rapidly and compacts for easy storage. You can't do better December 31, 2014

I've owned the original heavyweight EZ bed for about 10 years. It has been trouble-free, comfortable, and dependable. But it is quite heavy, and I'd like a lighter one. However, a review suggests that the original EZ Essential mattress material and construction is not the same as used on the Lightweight model. Is this correct, or do they both use the same mattress?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. The material used for the mattress on the Lightweight Inflatable EZ Bed is different from the mattress on the Essential EZ Bed.

The Essential EZ Bed mattress is made from PVC, where as the Lightweight EZ Bed mattress is made from polyester laminated with TPU.

Here are some overall differences between the Lightweight and Essential EZ Beds:

*The weight is about 35% lighter for Queen and 30% lighter for Twin.
*The Lightweight EZ Bed has more puncture resistance
*The Lightweight EZ Bed has a softer touch: more fabric like than PVC material on the Essential EZ Bed

Constant pressure clarification

Re: Constant Pressure feature --

You answered a previous question by saying that the Lightweight EZ bed did not have the constant pressure feature. Yet the catalog description states that "..this guest bed has a 9" thick mattress and a dual-phase, perpetual inflation system that maintains desired firmness during the night by automatically (and quietly) pumping air into the bed."

I'm puzzled. Does or does not the Lightweight EZ bed have the constant pressure feature?

I have the regular Inflatable EZ Bed in king size and my friends who have slept in it, and I, love it :) I want to get another one and now that you have a lightweight version, I'd want one in the same size as the one I already own. Thanks.
