Portable Dry Misting Fan 3.2 5 15 15
Good and bad Let me say that Frontgate completed my order and shipped in a timely manner. Now on to the fan. The positives are that the concept appears to work well and the manufacturer stands behind the product. The negatives are as follows. The, "General Assembly Instructions" have impossibly small diagrams and are not written clearly. I am very mechanically inclined and this was an exercise in frustration that took much longer than it should have. Once assembled I took it out to the patio and plugged it in. The motor hummed but the fan blades did not turn. I double checked my work and called the manufacturer. Brian in customer service said, "this is the first time this has happened" and had no repair tips for me. He did offer to immediately ship me a new fan which is exemplary customer focused service and I appreciate it. The downside is that now I'll have to make time to reassemble the replacement fan and disassemble the current one and pack and ship it back to the manufacturer. I did get curious with the current one and by manually spinning the fan blade (with front safety grill removed, do NOT do this) I was finally get it to run only in high speed. I hooked up the hose and it does spray a nice dry mist as advertised. I am very angry that the motor is defective and I am facing all this rework but I accept that sometimes machines are defective. I like the concept but wish I had a more positive review for you all. May 17, 2012
Starter Misting Fan Fan was easy to assemble and worked properly from the start. Fan does not cover a very big area, especially in an area where temps are over 100 degrees. Works great for 1 or 2 people. Appearance is odd with tubes and electrical all hanging outside of the structure. Good starter fan for light work. June 26, 2014
Dry Misting Fan - Good Concept, Okay Performance Relatively easy to assemble. Did not work and found one of the filters to be upside down blocking flow. Quality control issue. Frustrating to ID problem. Now works and pretty well. However, my wife says it's a bit louder than one we purchased from Frontgate before that was wet mist. It is because of the pump that runs all of the time. Dryer mist, and good from that standpoint. Average in performance because of above issues. June 18, 2014
Returning for refund...... I purchased this fan about 2 months ago. I wrote a review rating it as average after using it for a few weeks. We ran into some issues with the mister which is why I only gave it 3 stars. Now after having this fan a bit longer, I am lowering my rating. The fan works fine -- it's the mister that is defective. It inconsistently releases mist from the three nozzles and at times the "dry mist" is not dry! It takes some adjusting to get the mister to expel the mist at the right level out of all three misters. One afternoon after fooling with it for 10 minutes to get the misters just right, I left it running to cool down my patio. When I returned 15 minutes later, a stream of water shooting from the mister soaking my outdoor sofa. Try as I may, I just can't get the mister portion of this fan to operate consistently. I've decided to return it for a refund and just endure the hot Texas heat. August 22, 2013
A good value at the price point One needs to understand that this fan, at this price point, is reasonably good but certainly don't expect this to be commercial quality or directly comparable to fans that are about 4 times more $ for the same size. That being said, this fan performs. Period. Rather than pressurize the water with a pump, it compresses air at the same time to atomize the water into mist. That's how they make it work at this price point. So you have a slightly noisy air compressor. My solution for a decent size party was just to turn up the background music a little. Problem solved. The event was cooled off nicely and many people asked about where to purchase the fans. BTW, Frontgate was cheapest. Bought 2 and couldn't be happier. August 20, 2013
Great misting fan! We love this misting fan and used it all summer. It really heped to cool down the heat on our patio. Plus easy to set up and use. January 26, 2013
So good, Im ordering another. I ordered this earlier this summer. When it first arrived, there were scratched on the base but Frontgate had a replacement out to me in 3 days. It wasnt hard to put together, probably about a 10 minute job, but I made a point of reading the directions. I tested it out right away and was happy to find it worked. I now have it on my back patio and have been using almost every night. We have been getting close to 100 degree weather here and I havent used my pation in a while. Now with the misting fan, Im able to enjoy sitting outside in the day or evening. It really does make a noticeable difference in air temperature. It almost feels like I have an AC out there, blasting cool air on me. While it does cool the air, Ive noticed the first 8 or so feet closest to it is where you benefit most from it. That is why Im getting a second one to place at the other end of my patio. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the pump is not whisper quiet. I wouldnt say its loud but you definetly hear it. Its not the prettiest fan I have seen but it does the job its made for - and since its light, it wont be a big deal to pack it away in the cooler months. July 9, 2012
Pretty good This came just in time for a summer picnic at my home. Forecast was mid 90s. It did a great job and everybody thought it was a fantastic idea. It is pretty loud but that didn't bother me. What did bother me was that it is not a "dry" mist as the product states. It does get everything wet in the vicinity. It kept us nice and cool though. My biggest complaint with this fan is how long it took to put this thing together. People-please revise your directions! Between myself and very smart husband it took us almost 2 hrs-no kidding. Seems pretty straight forward but the directions are lousy-almost called customer support to find out where exactly the one piece was supposed to go! After all of that, I would recommend and does the job of keeping you cooler on those hot summer days. July 29, 2013

performance in a humid environment

I live in Michigan and when it is hot, it is humid. Will this fan reduce the temperature? I have experienced in St Barths how a misting evaporating fans worked but it was not humid.
