Soleil Personal Outdoor Shade

Made for the Shade--in Limited Amounts
We liked the first Soleil Personal Outdoor Shade we bought from Frontgate so much that we ordered a second one. They are handsome and sturdy and work well on a windy balcony where a larger shade would be a menace and where portability is a must.

Great shade, read to tilt
Finally! A shade-solution that is mobile, tilts & that you don't have to affix to the deck, a frame or the house, etc.
This shade is great, especially for small spaces. Before ordering online, I read the reviews about how it's very difficult to tilt the shade. When it arrived I realized they weren't kidding. It was VERY hard. I was sure I was going to break it.
My biggest challenge in getting it to tilt was not knowing EXACTLY which part of the mechanism itself is supposed to move. First I thought the ribs at the top center move. No. They don't. The entire top 6" of the shaft & each rib of the shade are fixed. That said, if you notice, the top ~6" of the shaft is plastic & it has a rounded bottom. This rounded bottom is set into the (metal) shaft. It's the entire 6" plastic portion of the upper shaft that "swivels". From my experience, if you pull on the ribs or the telescopic arms beneath you'll most likely break the shade. My advice is:
Position yourself so you're standing on the short-end of the shade. You'll also want to have the shade sort-of low so you can get leverage to bend it. This is hard because you also have to be under it...With the umbrella open, firmly hold the metal shaft (below the mechanism with the telescopic arms) with one hand, and hold the upper plastic part with the other hand. Put some elbow grease into it, or find someone stronger to try. After a bit of frustration, this technique finally worked for me. Hope this helps!

Made in the Shade
This is my second personal outdoor shade. I love how sturdy they are and how easy they are to move around. I wanted one more so that other family members could join me outside at the same time.

Greatest Father's Day Surprise
I purchased the Personal Umbrella for my husband for Father's Day to be able to sit by the pool with his very own umbrella to watch his Grandkids and his dog swim. He has very sensitive skin so this was exactly what he needed to be close to the action. The umbrella is beautifully crafted and is a breeze to move around. I was a little late in ordering but happily the umbrella arrived just in time for the surprise. Thank you as always Frontgate.

Love my shade
Purchased the Personal Shade Umbrella. It is a terrific umbrella as it allows you to be very specific where you aim your shade. Plus it is pretty. The only negative is the difficulty moving the great swivel feature. It is very hard to maneuver and brings me from a 5 to a 4 star review.

Space Saver on Small Deck
The personal umbrella blocks the sun when I try to read on our small deck. It's made of Sunbrella fabric, so it's fade resistant. The base is good & heavy, so it is secure in a wind. It adjusts to various angles- thanks to reviewers who advised that tugging won't hurt it.
