Selecting your Christmas Tree

Start by choosing the ideal height for your tree. Keep in mind that both your tree topper and tree stand will each measure about one foot high. Therefore, measure your ceiling height and subtract one foot from the total height. Then, select a Christmas tree of that height.

One Christmas decorating idea is to place your tree in a large room that looks out to your front yard. This is a simple way to give visitors a warm welcome. Or, set up your main tree in the gathering room in which most of your festivities will be held. Traditionally, a Christmas tree is placed in the corner of a room. Remember to place your tree a few inches away from the wall so you have ample room to walk all the way around the tree and hang Christmas decorations in the back.

You can also use your tree as a Christmas decoration by placing it in the middle of your great room. This can provide a wonderful conversation piece for holiday parties.

Dress up smaller areas with our Slim Christmas trees. These compact trees make perfect accents in hallways, powder rooms, or entryways. Or, group several together and decorate them in corresponding colors for a unique holiday design.

Decorating Your Tree

First, choose which types of lights you prefer. Clear lights typically go well with a more traditional theme, whereas multi-colored lights lend themselves to a more celebratory atmosphere.

When hanging your Christmas tree ornaments, be sure to place heavier ones closer to the trunk of the tree so there's less chance of them falling off. Avoid hanging all your Christmas tree ornaments in one area on your tree: mix ornaments between upper and lower branches, and place some on both the inside and outside branches.

You should also mix colors and materials—for instance, don't place all your blue ornaments on one side and all your angel ornaments on the other. For a more cohesive feel, hang similar ornaments at various locations throughout your tree. When the ornaments are in place, you can add garlands, tinsel, and faux icicles.

For the grand finale, top your Christmas tree with a tree topper. Popular selections for tree toppers in the U.S. are angels and stars. More unique variations include large fabric bows, ornamental feathers, decorative ornaments, and a mixture of faux fruit, flowers, and evergreen garlands.

Finishing Touches

To ensure your tree's individuality, don't forget an elegant Christmas tree skirt. Many of Frontgate's Christmas tree skirts can be monogrammed for personalized style. Or, house your Christmas tree in an engraved aluminum urn for a chic look.

All of our Christmas trees also include a fresh Evergreen Tree Mist with purchase, so be sure to spritz your tree, attached foliage, and even your rooms throughout the season. This will provide a fresh, festive scent that will keep your visitors in the holiday spirit.

Finally, surround your Christmas tree with other dazzling decorations. Hang monogrammed yuletide stockings on the mantel, and deck your hearth with a luxurious collection of vibrant foliage and flowers.
