If my freplace opening is 41"W x 39"H, will this screen fit?

If the screen will fit, should I get the standard size or the estate size? This is an antique mantle. The opening is surrounded by wood that extends out from the wall 5".

Thank you for your interest in Frontgate products. Typically, fireplace screens should overlap the opening by at least 1". The Tierney Fire Screen in the Standard size is 37"H, which is 2 inches shorter than your opening. The Estate size is 39"H, which is the same height as your opening.

How do you decide which size is right for your fireplace?

Asked by: Malone
Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. There are no standard sizes of fireplace openings in the US, so it is important to measure your opening size carefully to achieve a proper fit. Here are some tips for finding the right sized screen for your fireplace: For Square Fireplaces: 1. Measure the width of the opening from inside the face of the opening, at both the top and bottom. 2. Measure the height from the hearth surface (where the screen will sit) to the top of the opening, at both the left and right sides of the fireplace. If the measurements are different, go by the largest measurement to be sure the screen will completely cover the opening. For Arched Fireplaces: 1. For an arched fireplace opening, measure the height of the opening at the center, as well as at both sides of the arch to get a clear idea of how the screen will cover the opening. 2. Choose a screen that is at least one inch taller than the height and two inches wider than the width of the fireplace for a safe, attractive fit.
