10 ft. Outdoor Overlit Tree is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Assembly is Sketchy - Finished Look is Fantastic We got the tree in late October and began looking at the parts. The tree consists of 3 part groups, the trunk, 6 main branches, and a bunch of smaller branches. You start by putting the main branches on the trunk. To say the instructions are lacking is an overstatement. Good Luck. Here is what we learned. First, there are things you will need have or know to put this together. The tool they send does not fit the set screws on the branches. The spare set screws are the wrong size. This is important because several of our branches came without set screws. The proper set screw is a metric M5. I bought Hillman M5-.80 x 8. Got them from Lowe's. You will also need an Allen Wrench size 2.5 metric or a standard 3/32, both work. And, you will also need a pair of needle nose pliers. Don't forget a helper, assembly cannot be done alone. If you plan to set the tree up on the ground, you will need to buy some anchors. The anchors that come with the Tree are for permanently affixing the tree to a concrete base. The anchors need to be substantial and long because once the tree is up it is HEAVY, and slightly uneven ground makes it prone to tipping. Once anchored, ours seems to be very stable Each connection point on the main trunk was labeled...1, 2, 3, and 30. Each of the main branches were labeled 41. Yep every one of them. The big main branch is easy because it is the only one with two connection holes. After the main branch you are at trial and error. There are two guides..the picture in the instruction page and the picture on Frontgate plus the diameter of the branch base. You try to guess which goes where. You will find that regardless of which connection point you chose, it is likely that the branch will not mate flush. We ended up with gaps from 1/8 to 1/4 inch. When you put the main branches onto the trunk you must first connect the two wires found inside the hole and branch end. Sometimes the wire is way down in the hole. Use the needle nose pliers to pull the wire out. The two wires plug together and then the screw cap is tightened. These caps tightens counter clockwise. Once the main branches are on, you connect the two wires on the outside. On these, the screw cap tightens clockwise. Now the small branches are attached. Small is a relative term, they are about 33" long. Before you begin installing, make sure they have their set screw. Also, check inside the branch insert and feel around the screw hole. Many may have burrs there that will impede getting them on. If you find the burrs, file them down or scrape them off. On these branches you connect the wires and stick the branch on to its main branch. Some may not go all the way down, some will. Please Note. The highest main branch ends about 8' in the air. If you don't have a tall ladder it will be difficult to attach it's small branch. One option is to put the small branch on the main branch before attaching it to the trunk. All of the above being said, THE TREE LOOKS FANTASTIC when it is all lit up. You don't see the fit imperfections. But at this price I would have expected flush fits, good instructions and the correct parts. If those those elements were corrected I would give the product 5 stars and recommend it. To repeat, the finished tree looks fabulous, a one of a kind statement piece.
