11' Round Side Mount Umbrella is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful umbrella I received this umbrella just a few days after ordering. The delivery company Frontgate used was amazing! My umbrella arrived in two large well-packed boxes--no damage--and the two courteous delivery men carried it back my driveway and put it in my garage. When my husband and I were able to assemble it a few days later, we found everything in order. Simple to put together. It is beautiful and really completes our garden patio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best umbrella canopy I have found I was thrilled when I received the canopy as my old one was starting to tear in many places. The quality is high end and the color I just loved. Unfortunately, I thought my canopy was 11' but is actually 11 and a half feet so I had to return it. When my Cantilever umbrella no longer works for me I will be buying one from Frontgate!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Getting Concerned Frontgate should check with the manufacturer about the umbrella mechanics.......they (Frontgate) are shipping me a 3rd umbrella since the first two shipped to me would not stay in the up/raised position. They cranked up but would not stay up. So I am giving two stars......one because Frontgate does have great customer service and one more because I know the 3rd time will be a charm!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Umbrella fabric not the same We bought this umbrella years ago and even bought a replacement canopy in the color "sand" again after a few years of wear and tear. The arm/stand broke this spring and we ordered another in "sand" to match our other table umbrella in "sand". it is a different color, much more like the taupe option color. Very disappointing .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Side Mount Umbrella This is the second 11' side mount umbrella we purchased. We loved the first one so much that we bought another. We fill the base with water and it is very stable. Venting in the canopy allows wind to pass through, further contributing to the stability. We also found that Front Gate offered a very competitive price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from New design - lacks pole for putting on cover The old cover design came with a pole for assisting in putting on the cover. This newer cover is well made with high-quality fabric, but doesn't contain a pole. Since the umbrella must be 9-feet high, no one is able to put the cover on except a strong person on a ladder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Umbrella! Ordered a replacement canopy for our side mount umbrella. Great quality and color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Money I purchased this umbrella about 10 years ago and it is still awesome. It has seen summers of 110 degree heat, bad winds (forgot to put down), the mechanicals still work awesome with no care and in the elements. I'm moving to a new house and moving it. My husband just informed me I need to replace the canopy, ours is toast, would not have known, cause never touched canopy til this move, didn't show anything, no fraying, no holes, nothing but fading. So here I am today to buy a new canopy. Will also buy the cover this time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Umbrella Ever We purchased two (2) of these Umbrella's and we love them however the second umbrella, The cable inside the stand snapped one day on a windy day, and we wanted to know where or how we can repair and or replace the stand ? It is a very strong and sturdy umbrella, we use it quite often but need to know how can we repair it as everything is still in good working order... except the inside rope/cable... What can we do ???? Please help as we want to use our Umbrella again, here in Florida

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Umbrella cover This is wonderful for covering your nice umbrella. Very heavy, a bit challenging to get in due to height. This is our second one due to the first one ripping during the winter months (mostly due to wind). We will be moving the umbrella indoors now for winter storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Assembly suggestions Like others, we love this umbrella. Here are a couple of tips in assembly. 1. Like another reviewer, I loaded the sand (and a good spray of water) into 1 gallon zip-lock bags for the base rather than putting in sand directly. I had an old galvanized wash tub that I sat my sack of sand in and used a coffee can as a scoop. Each bag was about 2/3 full which worked well. I then topped off a few slots in the base that were a bit shallow with quart size bags. Used up the entire 200 pounds of sand. It probably adds over an hour more work to do it this way, but it will pay off when we want to move the umbrella by removing some of the bags. 2. Getting the umbrella pole into the base was a bit daunting for us two seniors. It's heavy. But we did it! The key for us was placing the pole end on the base hole. Walking the pole up onto the hole was our success. One held the pole end in place over the hole while the other walked the pole up vertically. The real trick is to push the pole up high holding onto the umbrella end that is hanging down. It dropped right in. Hope this helps some other 70 year olds:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good Have only had umbrella for a few weeks it o complaints so far. It definitely takes two people to assemble. The base needs 200 lbs. of sand and instead of just packing it in per the instructions we placed the sand in multiple baggies so if we decide to move the umbrella it will be easy to remove the sand, this was a suggestion by store sales associate and is a great idea. We look forward to many years of shade and as I said do far we are very pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Welcome Shade We love these umbrellas! Beautiful bronze pole and Creme fabric shade. They offer a lot of needed large space shade with elegance. Our first one lasted 3 years of hard wear in sun and wind. If we would have covered it and put it down on one windy day, we would probably still have it. Gave 4 stars because it is a pain to tighten the umbrella at the base so the pole does not swing, and this does not guarantee it will not swing, directing shade where it's not needed. Our last one moved around with just light wind. We are hoping the two we ordered do not move with a bit of wind. Bases for both we filled with sand which makes it a very solid base that does not move.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great umbrella! Wow, this umbrella is wonderful! It's very heavy and a bit tricky to get into the base, but once it's put together, it's really great. Sturdy, easy to adjust and, best of all, provides great shade to our very sunny deck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Umbrella Ever Best umbrella I've ever had. Set up was extremely easy. Instructions were very easy to follow. Quality is superb. The swivel and tilt features operate effortlessly. Umbrella made my back yard look like a tropical retreat! "Way to go Frontgate", this item is a winner! I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 11' Round Side Mount Umbrella Cover Umbrella is excellent - been using for 2+ years - the covers are expensive junk - the cover I bought last year (eg. 2 in two years) was poorly designed regarding getting on and off the umbrella - the material starting tearing after about 6 months and the pull tie at the bottom disintegrated within 2 months - this cover does not represent the typical quality of the Frontgate products

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely disappointed EXTREMELY disappointed!! Set up this umbrella today, put 200 lbs of sand in the base, got the umbrella in the stand, and when we went to open the umbrella the crank to move the umbrella in and out was in place and worked but the hole to crank the umbrella open was not drilled into the pole and the crank mechanism was not in place. SO frustrating!! There is absolutely no way to open the umbrella. A replacement will be sent out but is on backorder until 5/16 and then will take 2-3 more weeks to arrive. Very, very disappointing considering the price of this umbrella, and I hope that it doesn't end up out of stock.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Umbrella cover 11' round side mount umbrella The old umbrella cover that I had and loved, was very light, easy to put it on and off, had to be replace. Unfortunatley this one is very hard to put it on (I havent even try to take it off) for sure it will be very challenging. It was a struggle to put it on, even with a ladder and help of a 6.2 Ft. person. The material is so heavy to manuver, zipper is very short which makes it even harder to put it on. It's very sad to know that Fontgate discontinue the original umbrella cover

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome umbrella I bought this side mount umbrella for my patio because I face west and have that hot afternoon sun. I love how it covers a large part of my patio. Great product and it really allows us to enjoy our space during the summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful We've only had our umbrella a few weeks, but we love it so far. It is beautiful. It has a strong and sturdy look and feel. We really love the openess at the table without the normal center umbrella pole. That was an unexpected surprise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great umbrella This umbrella was very easy to assemble, even though I expected it to be difficult. I especially like to ability to swivel the umbrella 360 degrees. It also tilts to block the sun. It is sturdy even in moderate windy conditions.
Date published: 2015-07-10
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Umbrella Cover Replacement cover is not the same as the original cover. This item is the size of a large circus tent and does not conform to the shape of the 11ft umbrella. It does not come with a built in fiberglass rod which was used to assist in the removal/recovering of the very tall umbrella. The fabric color did match and is excellent quality. I will find a way to use this cover, but considering the original cost of the umbrella and its cover I would have expected a better replacement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 11' Round Side Mount Umbrella Great umbrella, provide lots of shade & easy to install, unfortunately the top slides easily with the wind changing it's desired direction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great umbrella! So far I have had this umbrella for a few weeks and I love it. I purchased it because several of my neighbors have one and they highly recommended it. My patio is very sunny and windy. This umbrella provides a large amount of shade and the vents properly handle the wind. I also like how the base was easy to add the sand and water. Overall it is worth the $$

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great umbrella I live in Calif. where we get sun year round, esp. recently, so our umbrella is out most of the time. It is a great umbrella frame but our cover was getting a little faded. We had also gotten new cushions for our patio furniture and changed our color scheme. It is nice to be able to change out the cover and not have to replace the whole umbrella. Thanks Frontgate!
Date published: 2015-06-01
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great cover but.... Great quality cover. Much better than the original cover that came with the umbrella when we purchased it several years ago. But..... You need a ladder to put it on and take it off. So needless to say, it remains off most of the time. Sort of defeats the purpose. Three stars because of this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Warning I have two of these umbrellas. One I've had for several years and it still works great. The other one I ordered last summer and it didn't arrive until October. It came without a crank. Fortunately I have the one from my old umbrella. We had both sitting on our deck throughout this winter. It was a tough winter; however the new umbrella started falling over from the base when we opened it this spring. This umbrella was stored in the most unexposed area on our deck. The old one was much more exposed than the other. We just realized that the area that hold the pole is cracked and we must get a new stand. Quite disappointing as we didn't get a chance to use it last year. Seems like quality control is not as good as it used to be. I will say that Frontgate did work with us on our issue of not getting the umbrella when originally promised. They were great, but I am really disappointed in the quality for the money.

Canopy removal

How do I remove the canopy? I need to put it in the garage for the winter as the base needs adjustments.
Asked by: dresdenld
loosen the collar around the arm. When it is loosened, you can slide the collar up off the based. Now you can lift the arm (with canopy attached) out of the base for storage. This can be a two-person job.

Since the zipper on the cover is very short, how do you suggest to apply and remove the cover?

We have had the umbrella for six years and love it. We need to order the third cover but hope Frontgate has made it easier to apply and take off the cover. A longer zipper would help.
Asked by: Chiefmac
JLfrontgate has never tried to put cover on this umbrella. The umbrella is 10' tall in closed position and the cover zipper is 5' long; therefore, the top of the cover needs to be hoisted 15' high so zipper clears top of umbrella. The engineers need to revisit this product. "Next, unzip the cover and slide it over the top of the Side Mount Umbrella" requires a 15' sturdy pole.

Windy conditions

We gut gusts of wind (15mph) and have bent other poles. How well does this unit handle wind gusts? Does the design allow for some sway/pivot to prevent tipping or breakage? Any other recommendations?

Thank you for your interest in the 11' Round Side Mount Umbrella. To swivel the entire umbrella: 1. Unlock the position of the umbrella by turning the collar of the base in a counter-clockwise direction. 2. Grab the main frame and rotate the umbrella in either direction to choose your desired location. 3. how does one move the umbrella after it is weighted?

Asked by: RKKK
I was able to move my weighted base on my own. I used a hand truck (the kind to move a refrigerator) around the side of the house without spilling sand. To get it up a stairway to a deck (4 steps up), I used an extension ladder as a ramp. The aluminum ladder is about 10' long when collapsed. I pushed the based onto the slightly inclined ladder from the hand truck and easily pushed and pulled the base up the stairway. My base goes on an 10" high wooden stand. I used the same ladder as a ramp to get the base up that 10" to its new home. Took several hours, but was able to move it without help. Sure beet emptying the sand and refilling later.
