42"H Tension-mount Dual Door Mesh Pet Gate is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 183.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 42" Mesh Pet Gate Gate is OK, quality is OK (not great) My cat can open the cat door. Latch should be better. Mesh is a little weak and wavy. Had to make a filler for the sides, cats can skinny through. Should have extensions for larger opening.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great functionality! But width = not-so-standard Overall, I'm pleased with the product (used to keep my cat restricted to a certain area while I am not home). My toddler understands how to use the large door, so it's great she can get through. I love the little door (with lock) that allows my cat to come and go as I deem necessary. Unfortunately, it did not fit in my doorway as I expected, and I instead had to jury-rig it to fit in the hallway just outside my door, which resulted in my cat being able to slip between the wall and the outside of the gate. Not ideal. I made it work; however (utilized extra materials to fill in the gap). Just be very sure of your dimensions before purchase (or be ready with some extra materials on-hand).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking and functional The door is nice. The cat door is wonderful. There should be a way to keep it open if desired, especially as hard as it slams shut. It was also 2 inches too big for out doorway so make sure to measure first.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good looking gate It's a good looking gate, but it keeps falling. Wish the tension pieces were a bit longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wish it came in standard interior door width I would love to purchase this. A standard interior door is 28"-32" wide. This is WIDER than that. Not with it for an exterior door. Please make one for a STANDARD INTERIOR DOOR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for our cats Purchased this gate because of it's 42" height (needed to restrict our two older cats from part of the house). It was exactly what we needed. We had been using the wooden gates that took both hands to move every time we needed through. This gate looks great, was extremely easy to install, and does the trick - cats are confined and we can pass through easily with only one free hand. It worked so well we bought a second one for another area.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality has slipped downward. I currently have three identical units that continue to work fine. Then I bought this additional gate....thus much easier to compare. New unit problems thus far include: Sliding spring loaded latch should remain fixed in one position that slides back and forth with spring assist. New gate sliding latch rotates instead of staying fixed as you pull it back to unlatch gate. Thumb slips off tab because it rotates and must ensure aligns to allow tapered edge in proper position. Not good. Also, the four adjusting threaded bolts on our other units are painted to match. New gate just received has bare metal threads that shine brightly that I must now paint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classy looking gate Really nice looking gate, taller than most. Scroll work makes it look nicer and less utilitarian than other gates. Be wary if your doorway is closer to the maximum for this gate. Ours were and it made the gate a bit wobbly so I add a solid piece of wood on both sides such that the bumpers don't have to extend too far. Also, if the bumpers are extended too much it leaves a noticeable gap on each side. Suggest you check to see how high of a barrier your pet can clear. 42" is high but a nimble dog can clear it if he wants to!

Can cats climb over this gate due to the mesh? Can you close a regular door when using this gate?

Asked by: Laura0925
Thank you for your interest in the 42"H Tension-mount Dual Door Mesh Pet Gate. Cats can be very crafty animals. I wouldn't put it past them to be able to climb this. However, this was designed to be able to close the door and keep your fur babies out of the room that you do not want them in.

How sturdy is the locking mechanism? We currently have a 28 inch auto-closure latching gate on which the latch/pin is plastic. My 60lb lab mix has figured out that he can force the gate open by repeatedly ramming it... I’m looking for something stronger.

Asked by: deedsydavis
Thank you for your interest in the 42"H Tension-mount Dual Door Mesh Pet Gate. The latch/pin on our gates is metal. We hope this information is helpful.

Is the gate designed in such a way that you could in theory stack another one top? We have a determined cat who can easily vault the gate, but I think two would deter her despite excellent jumping abilities.

Asked by: koh113
Thank you for your interest in the 42"H Tension-mount Dual Door Mesh Pet Gate. We do not recommend stacking two of these gates. This gate weighs 20 lbs., and though the tension mounts keep it in place, most of the weight should be resting on the floor to be stable.
