42"H Tension-mount Dual Door Mesh Pet Gate is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 178.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for our cats Purchased this gate because of it's 42" height (needed to restrict our two older cats from part of the house). It was exactly what we needed. We had been using the wooden gates that took both hands to move every time we needed through. This gate looks great, was extremely easy to install, and does the trick - cats are confined and we can pass through easily with only one free hand. It worked so well we bought a second one for another area.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality has slipped downward. I currently have three identical units that continue to work fine. Then I bought this additional gate....thus much easier to compare. New unit problems thus far include: Sliding spring loaded latch should remain fixed in one position that slides back and forth with spring assist. New gate sliding latch rotates instead of staying fixed as you pull it back to unlatch gate. Thumb slips off tab because it rotates and must ensure aligns to allow tapered edge in proper position. Not good. Also, the four adjusting threaded bolts on our other units are painted to match. New gate just received has bare metal threads that shine brightly that I must now paint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classy looking gate Really nice looking gate, taller than most. Scroll work makes it look nicer and less utilitarian than other gates. Be wary if your doorway is closer to the maximum for this gate. Ours were and it made the gate a bit wobbly so I add a solid piece of wood on both sides such that the bumpers don't have to extend too far. Also, if the bumpers are extended too much it leaves a noticeable gap on each side. Suggest you check to see how high of a barrier your pet can clear. 42" is high but a nimble dog can clear it if he wants to!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rivets on frame/gate failed; Pet gate poorly made FRONTGATE 42"H Tension-mount Dual Door Mesh Pet Gate (Item #46128) failed on 19 March 2018. The three rivets that attaches top of gate frame to gate door separated from gate door. The resultant stress placed upon bottom hinge looks like bottom hinge will also fail.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beautiful bt poorly constructed w/ cheap materials This gate looks awesome.. but parts started breaking off almost immediately after it was installed. We had it less than a year before the hinges completely came undone. We have the other matching on that sits on the floor which also started falling apart after about 4 months. I can't find anything that looks as good so I will prob bite the bullet and buy two more and replace the ones I have.. I wish they were made better...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gate has lasted years I have had this gate for over a year, and it is still like new. No problems whatsoever. I needed this tall of a gate because one of my dogs would jump over the baby gate previously used. Great quality, great design, and great look!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gate arrived damaged Gate arrived damaged, the door on the gate arrived bent and will not close. Not very impressed with the design, looks more like a out door gate vs something you would have inside your house. I also paid extra for two day shipping and arrived a week later.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I love the doors. I bought 2! I’ve had 2 of these gates for over a year. I love them. The latch is plastic and both have broke. When you have large dogs, that need to be separated sometimes, when they get excited. Having broken latches, and not checking them can cause issues. I wish they would make metal latches and recall the plastic ones.

Is the gate designed in such a way that you could in theory stack another one top? We have a determined cat who can easily vault the gate, but I think two would deter her despite excellent jumping abilities.

Asked by: koh113
Thank you for your interest in the 42"H Tension-mount Dual Door Mesh Pet Gate. We do not recommend stacking two of these gates. This gate weighs 20 lbs., and though the tension mounts keep it in place, most of the weight should be resting on the floor to be stable.

I love the style of the 42" tension mount gate which has the two openings. I am wondering if you have the same size/still without the little door as I do not have a cat. I need two gates as I have a fireplace with openings on each side.
