Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product, but not happy with set-up We haven't really had a chance to use the umbrella, but it seems really well made. I am very disappointing that the significant delivery fee did not include set-up and that for the price of the umbrella, I had to go out and buy stones to put in the base. I must have not noticed it when I purchased the umbrella, but I considered returning it when I noticed that was the case.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Amazing umbrella but flawed design I love this umbrella! The 13' is perfect for our pool area. The base is strong and sturdy. The cantilever, made of aluminum, is quality and pivots very easily. We are hugely disappointed in the end caps that keep falling out of the arms. They are made of plastic and have a spring inside that help keep the canvas tight. Frontgate customer service has been amazing. We exchanged the first umbrella thinking is was a one off problem. However, the second umbrella has the same exact issue. This leaves us bummed as we have to return the second umbrella. We are not willing to sacrifice quality for the price we paid. I highly recommend Frontgate because of the wide availability of products but more importantly, because they are accommodative and a pleasure to deal with when you have an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than worth the price and the wait! We built a new patio, but with no shade, we felt like we were sitting in a skillet. So, we went looking for something to shade us. After LOTS of looking, we found this. It was more expensive than others, but the size and shape, and color were exactly what we wanted. We purchased the 11 1/2 foot one, and found pavers as instructed. The first delivery arrived, but had to be sent back because screws were missing for the base. Frontgate quickly sent a second base. It arrived two days ago. It took 3 able-bodied men to assemble it, and hoist it into position. But, now that it's done, WE LOVE IT. In spite of its size and weight, it's very easy to open and close. We are seniors so that is very important. It's very attractive, and now we can enjoy our patio. One thing to note:The description doesn't say that a cover is included, so we purchased a separate one. To our surprise, a cover is included. So, we'll be returning the extra cover. Can't speak to the long term, but in the short term, we're very happy. Thanks, Frontage for a quality product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and strong This umbrella is extremely sturdy and so easy to use. Even the bag cover has a pole that makes it so easy to put on. Adjusting the umbrella requires hardly any effort. We can swing and adjust it to cover any area of our deck. Well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Backyard Purchase to Date! I purchased the 13 foot Altura Cantilever umbrella and it arrived about a month ago. We live in Houston, Texas and our backyard faces westward. The house itself has no built in shade. My husband and I agree that this has been my best backyard purchase ever! It swivels 360 degrees with very little effort and the tilt mechanism is also very easy to manipulate. Upon purchase it was my understanding that the umbrella did not come with a cover. So, I was pleasantly surprised with it arrived with a cover. The cover contains a metal pole that makes placing it on such a tall umbrella very easy. The zipper on the cover also has a cord attached to it that makes storage/covering easy for shorter folks. Well worth every penny!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weighted pavers hard to get I hope we will love this umbrella. But it’s been sitting and waiting to be put up because nobody around sells 16x16 pavers to weight the base. Additionally, It’s very tall and heavy, so I need a few strongmen to put it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the tilt feature This is a well made umbrella, just make sure to cover it when the winds are kickin' up, we had 30 mph in the area, Wichita, Ks. It was tilted slightly and it tipped over backwards. Sustained a few scratches on the base, and 3 of the pavers broke. But, otherwise it is a beautiful addition pool-side. & also, it DOES come with a cover.

I see from previous questions that the umbrella base requires Q12 16” x 16” pavers. Or 3 stacked paves at each of the 4 corners. But what is the required paver thickness to flush out with the top of the base? As paver thickness can vary quite a bit.

Asked by: RyanG
Thank you for your interest in the Altura Cantilever Umbrella. The base of this umbrella is approximately 33.7" sq. x 5.6"H so the thickness of the pavers would need to be approximately 2" thick.

Is this waterproof (rain repellent)? If not, can the fabric be weatherproofed? Is there a recommended weatherproofing product that will not damage the Sunbrella fabric?

Asked by: Ami E
Thank you for your interest in the Altura Cantilever Umbrella. This is not a waterproof fabric and non of our umbrellas are. We do not recommend putting any kind of weatherproofing product on the fabric as it will void any warranty and could damage the fabric. We apologize the inconvenience.
