Ashland Downswept Fir Tree is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from When you are going for a different look. We really like the profile and different look of this downswept tree. In our opinion each section needs a few more branches and trunk foliage to really fill out. For this tree to look best, you will need to arrange literally every branch and tip. This took us about 90 minutes the first time out of the box. We were concerned there may not be enough lights but the look and count of the white lights is good and they are evenly distributed across the tree. The tree assembly is simple and the construction quality is OK, but it won't blow anyone away. My biggest issue with the quality is that the lights are strung in a way that spreading the branches puts strain on the wiring. I'd expect that this causes outage problems after a few seasonal cycles. The integrated switch feels really light and cheap. Expect issues here. I don't know if any other tree currently for sale has better quality, but I feel that the quality of this tree is noticeably lower than the trees Frontgate sold 10 years ago. That said, the tree is very easy to assemble and it's nice to just put it up and click the lights on in 5 minutes. Frontgate provides zero besides the tree in a single layer of bubblewrap. There's a cheap stand and a generic set of instructions - that's it. Compare this with Balsam Hill where we got nice storage bags, a heavy stand and some other accessories on a tree that cost half as much. Of course Balsam Hill trees have other issues. In any case, we do like the profile and downswept look of the tree, and if you are willing to put in the time to shape the branches and tips it's quite good looking. If you can get this tree on sale I recommend it.
