In September 1991, we mailed the first Frontgate catalog to 300,000 upscale American households. The aim of our new direct marketing company was to offer these consumers products and services of unprecedented quality. Since that time we have enjoyed tremendous growth. In 1996, Frontgate was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the nation's 500 fastest growing companies. Today, Frontgate is the recognized leader in catalog and online shopping for the home environment. This year alone, we will circulate almost 83 million catalogs. The Founding of Frontgate

Paul Tarvin launched Frontgate in 1991, with the vision of marketing a broad range of functional, high-quality products for the home and garden. His goal was to attain a level of service that would well exceed industry standards. The result was the Frontgate catalog, later joined by subsidiary titles including Grandin Road, The Outdoor Sourcebook, and Splash Pool & Spa. Although each catalog has a different focus, they all share a common mission that Paul insisted upon: "To reward our customers with long-term value and product satisfaction for every purchase."
