Cordless Digital Recipe Reader with Wi-Fi 3.6 5 15 16
Love My Reader Have been looking for a digital alternative to the "recipe box" for years and finally they have one. Don't like using my phone; too small, and my tablet is not as "kitchen friendly" but this is just right. I like that I can do the real work of transferring my recipe collection via my desktop since it is easier to work on and to add recipes from the web. I've purchased two more for friends; we share our Key Ingredient account, which is the online website where you actually store your recipes, a free service; so we all three have access to each others recipes. Only downside is I am uncertain of the reliability of the product; had to return one since it did not work at all. April 8, 2014
Great Gift I love to cook and have many recipe books. This is a great way to categorize your favorite recipies and have them right at your fingertips instead of looking through all your cook books. I would have given it 5 stars but the only problem I have with this product is that you charge to scan a recipe into my cookbooks. If i can download them from other websites for free than i should be able to scan my own recipies into my cookbooks for free. The charge is way too much when you have hundreds of recipies that you would like to scan. January 9, 2014
Great recipe collection device! Ordered this product with high hopes. Received it in a timely manner, but was disappointed that I had to send it back as it was in a frozen state and I could not get it to do anything. Sent it back to Frontgate right away and in less then a week I had a new "working" device in my hands. Although I am not very techno, I was able to figure how to operate the device by using the manual as well as by going to the key ingredient website. So far I love it and plan to order one for my daughter, niece and mother in law as gifts. February 18, 2014
Recipe Reader Unfortunitly the first reader we received was in a used state and had to be returned. Frontgate replaced the reader right away with no diffaculty in a matter of days. The new reader works very well. The Demi Reciper support group is great and helps with any problem you might have. This was our first order with Frontgate and we were very impressed with their customer support. February 7, 2014
Recipe Consolidation Having been collecting recipes in binders, on my p.c., and with clippings for some 30 years, I decided to attempt consolidation. This device will probably be yet another mode as it will take me the rest of my life to transfer all my recipes (which I am doing 1 x 1). All in all, I'm glad to have it. It takes up little counter space, is compact and easy to use. Only complaint about the software is that scrolling is difficult since every time your finger touches the screen, a recipe opens up..which you have to close and continue to attempt to scroll through your list. Another consideration is if you want to see your whole recipe during prep, you can only see one screen at a time....this makes using a print out more effective. Not absolutely perfect, but good. It's Awesome! I love it so much had to get another one - for my sister-in-law! It is a perfect fit for me as I had my favorite recipes stored on my laptop - easy enough to transfer and I don't have to worry about getting any ingredients on my keyboard! February 5, 2014
Recipe reader This is a great tool, very handy, although I haven't figured out how to download recipes to it that Key Ingredients sends to my e-mail. January 29, 2014
Recipe Reader Item would not charge. Is on its way back for an exchange. January 24, 2014

We appreciate your interest in this item. To add your paper recipes to this item, they would first need to be scanned into the computer and uploaded to your keyingredient.com profile. They can then be transfered to your digital recipe reader.

Answer:
If you have a scanner that can scan to your computer, you can then cut and paste very easily into their new recipe template. Very east to do. You can also, if recipe is from a cooking website, look up the recipe online and use their one touch program to read it in.

What accessories go with this?

One Frontgate. com site indicates that a USB cable is included with the product. Then when I go to the order site for Frontgate it only indicates that an AC adapter is included. Will this product con with a USB cable. If not can one be purchased?

We appreciate your interest in this item. This version of the recipe reader features a Wi-Fi connection so it does not require a USB cable. The AC adapter is included; however the USB cable is not. This can be purchased locally. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Answer:
NO usb cable comes with it When I questioned customer service about a USB cable I was told maybe one of these days something will adapt to it. They told me to upload an app, if I want to put my own recipes in it.

My second question was whether I am charged to transfer the recipes. One review said they were charged for transferring their own recipes.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Frontgate. The Cordless Digital Recipe Reader allows for transfer of recipes via the Key Ingredient website. You can type in your recipes on the website and then sync your reader to your Key Ingredient account to access the recipes. There is no charge for a Key Ingredient online account.

If you manually type in the recipes, there is no charge to add them to your reader. Key Ingredient does offer a service called "Recipe Snap" where you can take pictures or scan in images of hand-written recipes and they will upload them to your account. The Recipe Snap service does have a cost associated with it, however it is not required to use your reader.

Answer:
The device is synced to your account with Key Ingredient, which is a free online service that lets your organize recipes within your own cookbooks. You can copy/paste or type in your recipes, including images as long as your device has internet access. After you get your collection into the online site, you can then access it via the reader. Only time you have to pay is if you want to scan your personal written recipes and upload the scans into your account on the website.
