Freestanding Pet Barrier in Bronze is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 436.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, heavy, well-designed for usage, I absolutely love this pet barrier. I have a 61" wide opening by the front door. We needed a second line of defense for our three sub-15 lb adult dogs (Boston Terrier and 2 Cavalier King Charles' dogs). One of the dogs is prone to jumping/leaning on gates, and so we needed something heavy and sturdy. While I always go for tension gates on narrower doorways, as they are stronger/sturdier and more fool-proof, for opening wider than 36" I hesitate to use them and so looked for the strongest barrier out there. I bought the 40"-70" and have it pulled out to the max. The two ends are leaning against the wall and so even if the dog jumps on it there is heavy resistance. The other end of the leg is long enough to offset any pressure, and so I feel safe even if all 3 dogs were to lean against it (only 2 would at any one time, and one is a lightweight puppy). On top of that, I love the color and the look of it. It's a bulky, dark bronzed metal finish, and goes well with our newly refinished hardwood floors and our furniture. I didn't want to deal with unattractive pet metal gates. I initially bought the tension gate version for another doorway, liked it so much, and then splurged on this when I got the 25% coupon. I would definitely buy it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pet barrier Looks elegant, well built, sturdy, heavy enough that medium size dogs can’t move it. Overall pleased. However, size description is misleading. The smallest size listed only works if you attach the gate to the walls, and do not use the feet. Ideally we wanted to use it free-standing with the feet at the smallest size, and that doesn’t work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Gate Blocks the Beast We recently redecorated our living room and needed to protect our new and reupholstered furniture from our dog Jinx. We bought this gate and it has been a huge success! It is heavy, attractive and well padded so it won’t mar the wall or scratch the floors. Our dog doesn’t even try to mess with it! The gate/door is a little tricky...some guests to the house have been stuck on the far side with the dog, but overall, this is a really great solution. Our dog is medium sized, but I cannot imagine even a large dog successful at tipping it over or scooting it out of place. I have it fully extended to stretch across the full opening into the living room and it isn’t the least bit wobbly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy looking pet barrier. I take our dog to my business every day, and I wanted to give him room to roam between my office and the customer area. I bought two sections, and it's perfect for an office setting. The bronze finish is classy, and it was very simple to set up. No tools required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gate I bought this gate to keep our two Maltese dogs out of the living room. The gate is beautiful and the dogs don't try to go over it. The gate is very sturdy and the bronze finish is beautiful. I have received may compliments on the gate from friends and neighbors. I would recommend this gate, in fact, I am going to order another one for my dining room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for large opening I bought this about a month ago and it is just what I was looking for. It was hard to find an attractive gate for our opening of 72". I put it together myself-not difficult at all. It is sturdy, looks nice with our decor, and is made of quality materials that will last.

Can the 11 inch sides be flipped to be on the outside or opposite side than how it’s shown?

Asked by: Matter
I have in fact flipped the side pieces around and they work fine. The hinge location does affect how far the side panels can rotate, so flipping them has some effect, but not enough to prevent it from working well.

Asked by: brenda nance
Thank you for your interest in the 34"H Freestanding Pet Barrier with Gate. This is a freestanding gate that does not need to be mounted to the doorframe. This gate is designed to have the walk through on the front right side with the gate opening in toward the side panels. There are rubber pads on the feet to keep the gate from sliding and your animals should not knock it over, it is very sturdy.
