Great towels!
Very soft and absorbent towels. I like not having a non-terry border. They seem to shrink and make the towel distorted. Without that trip, the towels always look uniform!

Best Towels Ever
I looked and looked for thick, soft & absorbent towels until I found these. These towels are the softest thickest towels I could ask for. I recommend these 100%. 700gsm. That’s the magic number.

Pushing Water
Very soft and plush, but pushes water around as much or more than it actually absorbs water. Drying your hair takes a lot of effort. We have tried washing the towels multiple ways and times to "break them in," but the results, so far, remain the same. Obviously, we do not use fabric softeners, as this would make the problem worse. Called the Frontgate company directly, but they did not have any good ideas on how to make the towels more absorbent. It's not a surprise that people reviewing them talk about how fast they dry. This is easy if they do not absorb water well.

Poor stitching, fraying trim
We like the simple look of the towels, which is hard to find at any price point. But after washing them for initial use, two of them have shown stitching problems (one with a long thread coming undone along one of the edges and another whose loop wasn’t stitched in fully and has been fraying apart). The satiny trim ends pill quite a bit and are fuzzy. And our first set that we’ve been using for a couple months now are still surprisingly fuzzy and shedding—seems like the cotton strands are shorter than other towels we have.

Difficult to launder!
These towels, like all of the other Wirecutter recommended towels, are lush. But no one mentioned that you are supposed to wash these towels in cold water and dry them on LOW heat. Yes, cold water and low heat. So I cannot wash my sheets and towels together. I don’t want to wash my sheets with cold water. And, it takes forever for the towels to dry. Yesterday, I ran my dryer for THREE HOURS on low heat to dry these think towels. And finally, if you use a washcloth, one must be very careful about hanging it to dry. The washcloths are so thick, they sour if you are not careful. After several experiences with stinky washcloths, I have started putting mine in the dryer after every use. Otherwise, the washcloth gets pretty rank. If only I had known this before purchasing them.
