Somewhere among the towering skyscrapers and corner delis of New York City lies an oasis of flora, trees and gardens. The New York Botanical Garden is a well-known institution of beauty and a favorite escape from traffic and noise for New Yorkers and tourists alike. Beyond that, though, it’s the home to the LuEsther T. Mertz Library, a leading organization for botanical research, with one of the most comprehensive portfolios of horticultural and botanical works. Our friends at The New York Botanical Garden granted us exclusive access to their restricted archive to use some of these rarely seen images for a collection of heirloom-quality botanical prints.
Each print was carefully chosen from the Library’s Rare Book and Folio Collection of more than 18,000 pieces dating as far back as 1200 A.D. We combed through the vintage engravings and hand-colored illustrations to curate a vibrant, one-of-a-kind gallery of tropically inspired art. Faithfully replicating each artist’s original masterpiece with archival inks and paper, we made every piece as enduring as it is beautiful by using our incomparable giclée printing technique. The prints arrive ready to hang with a mat and frame. Even better? A portion of every purchase supports The New York Botanical Garden’s work in plant research, conservation, horticulture and education.
