Lotus Flower Fountain is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Arrived Damaged and Leaks The box did not appear to have suffered any damage, however the base was dented on the corner and one side. Decided we could mask that by turning the fountain, but once we filled it with water, it leaded out of the damaged edge. Very disappointing. Waiting for an exchange. I hope the next one arrives without damage!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No mud no lotus The lotus fountain is beautiful! The water trickles down all of the cups and makes me feel so relaxed. It was easy to put together and is great quality. I am absolutely enjoying it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Fountain We couldn't be any more pleased. The fountain is actually nicer looking than the photos. We put it in an outdoor location on our courtyard. The sound is very nice, does sound a bit hollow when the water level is down, so we try to keep the tank topped off. We have it lite from below, which is a perfect accent at night. We have had multiple comments on how striking it looks. Works very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Indoor Fountain We like the fountain, which is in our family room. It requires a lot of water - we used distilled water so algae does not form. We put ping pong balls in the water chamber to dampen the sound a bit. The base is grey with blue overtones.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks Looks good leaks like a sieve. After moving once for a coming hurricane it started leaking. Cheap Chinese construction. Poor welds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from looks great, but some design flaws I wanted so much to LOVE this fountain, but it is just good. First off, the pros. I needed to find a fountain that was narrow and tall to fill this awkward, wasted space next to my staircase. The dimensions of this fountain were perfect for that. I love how tall it is! It also looks gorgeous, especially with the uplight I added in front (see pic). Also added some river rocks to top of base to spruce it up. Now, the cons: The styrofoam used in shipping disintegrated and with the magic of static electricity, the tiny bits of styrofoam stuck to EVERYTHING, including every nook and cranny of the fountain. What a mess. I had to take it outside and hose it off, then pick up all the bits of wet styrofoam. Quality of construction is mostly good. The base container had some scuffs and dents, luckily only on the back side so I didn't bother with exchanging it. The "lotus" cups are painted and seem to scratch easily, so handle with care. When you first turn on the fountain, water always spits up out of the second-to-top cup and onto the floor. I had to add a small stone to that cup to prevent the spit (otherwise it does not seem to obstruct the water flow). As other reviews said, minor splashing (very visible with uplight, otherwise not noticeable) should be expected. Not a deal-breaker though. The most annoying part of the fountain is the pump. First off, the pump is not exactly the one in the instructions, so some of the instructions (e.g., taking about screwing on a tube and threading) did not make sense because the pump that came with the fountain did not have any threading on the tube. The clear tubing is also hard to attach to the fountain intake tubes, but I got them eventually and added some zip-ties to keep the tubing securely attached. The pump also seems to hang just above the bottom of the base container and the suction cups do not attach to the bottom because of the base's non-smooth texture. The problem is that the pump started to vibrate loudly against the bottom of the base. To fix this, I used some zip-ties to jerry-rig the pump so that it was suspended higher off the bottom...this way, even though the pump may still vibrate, it is not touching the metal bottom of the base and therefore is mostly quiet now. I mostly like the sound produced by the fountain. Not too loud. However, the trickle of the water passing from cup to cup is almost overpowered by the water splashing back into the base...it makes a loud hollow echoing sound. Lastly, there is a large hole (about 1.5-inch diameter) in the upper right corner of the back wall of base container to allow the pump cord to feed out to an outlet. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN FILLING YOUR FOUNTAIN! I completely forgot about this hole and the instructions only say "fill at least 85% full", so I figured I would fill close to the top. Well, I didn't get that far because the water started pouring out of the back hole and making a mess on my floor. My fault, but the instructions should remind the owner of this hole when filling. These flaws are mostly minor, but for that cost (not to mention you don't get free shipping), the fountain should be perfect. There are some promo codes out there to get ~20-30% off an order, so look out for those. Makes the price a little more bearable. Again, because of the unique dimensions of the fountain, I was willing to pay the premium. All in all, a nice fountain except for the flaws mentioned and the high cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great in the front of our house I love this fountain. We just had our house painted and this sits out front by the porch and we've received a lot of compliments. It makes a great sound, and looks pretty, even when it's not turned on. I also bought 10lbs of craft rocks (3/4 to 1 1/4 inch size) to put at the base of the fountain which gives it a more finished look.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lotus Flower Fountain Did not appear as in picture, is more blue than the slate grey. Pump leaked. Even with 20% off, quality did not equal the price.

how do I clean my lotus flower fountain? As in wiping out the pods, etc?

Asked by: George3
Thank you for your interest in the Lotus Flower Fountain. Here are some helpful tips in cleaning your fountain and keeping it clean: MOVE YOUR FOUNTAIN TO THE SHADE: · Sun helps algae grow. Keep your fountain in a shaded area and white scale growth will slow down. CHANGE YOUR FOUNTAIN’S WATER AT LEAST EVERY MONTH: · Change your fountain's water at least every month (Use distilled water rather than tap or spring water so you don't stain them with minerals.)t MAKE SURE THE PUMP IS SUBMERGED IN WATER: · The pump cannot function unless it is entirely underwater. It's common to have to add water to your fountain for the first several days after you own it in order to ensure that the pump stays submerged. CLEAN YOUR FOUNTAIN AT LEAST EVERY 2 MONTHS: • Turn off the pump and drain the fountain before cleaning. · Go over the fountain with a terry cloth or old toothbrush to gently scrape off algae and other organic matter. Please keep in mind that the finish on this fountain is painted on and the material is not actually that color. • It’s suggested to clean fountain tubes with a pipe cleaner. TO ENSURE THAT THE ALGAE GROWTH SLOWS DOWN: · Try adding about a quarter cup to half a cup of white vinegar to the water in the fountain to slow down the algae growth. It will not prevent it from growing completely, but it is a safe alternative and also child/pet friendly! OTHER HELPFUL TIPS: CLEAN YOUR WATER PUMP · The pump is responsible for cycling water through the fountain, reducing algae's ability to grow. Scrub the pump's parts with a sponge or toothbrush. If you need to open the pump in order to get at interior parts. Flush the water pump out with CLR to remove any calcium deposits from the pump and clean it out with mild soap and water as there may be algae or algae spores.

Where is the switch folks are talking about? Also, is it ok to leave the water flowing day and night?

Asked by: Nimo
Thank you for your interest in the Lotus Flower Fountain. In the included instructions it refers to "turning the switch on"; this refers to plugging the power cord in. This fountain can be left running; however, you will need to periodically check to ensure the water level is still covering the pump and bring the pump indoors during freezing temperatures.

Can you leave the switch to on and plug it into a timer? I assume you can but I want to make sure it does t cause any unseen issues.

Asked by: kathyinseattle
Thank you for your interest in the Lotus Fountain. We do not recommend leaving the switch turned to on and plugging this in to a timer.

Can fountain remain outside in the winter months?

Asked by: Deemers
Thank you for your interest in the Lotus Flower Fountain. Fountains are frost-resistant up to -4°F (-20°C) but pump must be removed from fountain during freezing temperatures. If the fountain must be left outside and temperatures drop below -4°F (-20°C) you should remove pump for storage indoors, raise the fountain base from ground with wood strips so that base will not freeze to the ground surface, cover or wrap the fountain with burlap or other absorbent material (old blanket or towel) and then cover securely with plastic, making sure that water will not accumulate in the basin or other fountain component and freeze and check the fountain periodically to ensure that plastic is secure and water is not accumulating in any fountain component.
