High price...lower quality.
Product packaging was damaged with slight damage to product. Some product looked like maybe it was a previous return and missing the cap. Other had scratches.

Quality torch and base
This is the 2nd set of torches and bases we've purchased. We bought them for a 2nd house and are still using the ones we bought 6 years ago. They are well made and have withstood all the seasons. The bases are very sturdy and allow you to easily move the torches around.

be aware
I bought a lot of those torches 4 years ago and always put them inside in the winter hoping to enjoy them for a long time. However, now I am very disappointed. I trusted the description " powdercoating for durability" but now I see how especially the "leaves" of the pineapples are peeling.

Great torches, wicks not so much
reading reviews I experienced the identical frustration as previous reviewer. Bought 2, worked great first time. Second time lit, one would barely stay lit, third time one wouldn't light at all and the other barely lit, next time both nothing. What is up with the wicks? Such a nice product yet the results are negative, why? bought some EricX Light Fiberglass wicks, replaced the Frontgate's and they work phenomenally. Frontgate, please address so not to jeopardize an otherwise great product.

Can this product be used with Citronella oil? Can I see bottom of pole to determine ground attachment point(s)?
Thank you for your interest in Pineapple Torches. Citronella Oil has a lower boiling point than liquid paraffin. We recommend using only liquid paraffin in the Pineapple Torches. The bottom of the pole comes to a point to allow easy puncture into the ground.

I'm aware that the pinapple torches Will tarnish. What would you recommend to use on them so they won't tarnish! I'm getting ready to order 2 of them. Been looking at them for years. Waiting for them to go on sale. This is the only sale I have seen.
Thank you for your interest in the Pineapple Torches, Set of Two. The lamp surface should be wiped/polished by a cotton cloth or flannel cloth. The more you rub the more shiny surface become.

How long do they stay lit for after the reservoir is full of the oil? Would you say 2-4 hrs, or closer to 5/6 hrs?
Thank you for your interest in the Pineapple Torches, Set of Two. These have 30oz reservoirs. Liquid paraffin burns approximately 1/2 ounce for every hour that the lamp burns. So these could last approximately 60 hours. Do keep in mind the quality of the oil can have an effect on the burn time.

i'm about to buy replacement wicks for pineapple torches. i have purchased several torches from you. fyi the wicks suck. some come out of the brass fitting before i use them and then they often very hard to get to wick fuel. any suggestions?
Thank you for your interest in the Pineapple Torches. We are very sorry that you are having problems getting your torches to light. How do the poles go into the ground? Other torches that I have, have a lip several inches from the bottom. You step on that and push the pole into the ground plus it stabilizes it. Please get back ASAP.
Thank you for your interest in the Pineapple Torches. These torches can be put directly into the ground. To do this we recommend first putting the bottom pole piece into the ground and then attaching the torch portion to the top. To ensure the pole is far enough into the ground to be stable you may wish to hammer the pole into the ground; however, first place a towel or other soft cloth on top of the pole as well as a board or other flat surface to protect the top of the pole.

Cleaning/polishing top of torches
The answer given in FAQ was that info would be obtained from mfg'r. That was 4.5 YEARS ago.
I have the same question but not a long expected life span.
I found the best way to restore these torches is to spray them with Permatex 81849 Rust Treatment. It is a clear spray that brings back the beauty in these torches. I do this every other year (tops, caps and poles) and they look almost new.

are the copper canisters available seperately?
Water has gotten into my canisters. I can't seem to dry them out. Do you have a suggestion or can I buy just the canisters without having to buy the pole etc.?.
Water getting into the canister is a design defect and even if you replace the canister you will have the same problem over and over again. I have not been able to solve the problem and have had gallons of the paraffin oil ruined by rain water. Some have fixed this by installing an O-ring or a large rubber washer, but I have not found one that works.

Can these torches be put into the ground without a base?
Yes, and I would recommend that over the base as it could be disastrous if the torch got knocked over!

Does anyone have experience with using these torches in Forida's extreme heat and humdity?
After reading the reviews, there seems to be a reoccurring theme about discoloration, peeling and rain intolerance of the copper bowls. As I currently live in Florida, these torches would be outside year round and would be exposed to rain and high humidity. Therefore, I am most interested in the experiences of customers who own these and also live in a semi-tropical or tropical environment.
The torches do come with a notification that the canisters will darken with age and can be buffed with a soft cloth back to the original color. A little TLC along the way should keep them nice.
