Poolside Cantilever Umbrella is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will rust on bottom in one year I have two of these umbrellas. They've both rusted on the bottom. One umbrella had to be fully taken apart for repair. The first one I purchased May 2013. We used it for the NC summer and then stored it in the garage for 8 months. Brought it back out in May and used it for the summer. When we were putting it up for storage I noticed corrosion on the base and a rust mark on the cement. I called Frontgate and they gave me a credit which I stupidly used to buy another umbrella for the other side of the pool. Well, that one has now rusted out too. This summer one of the umbrellas wouldn't close. We ended up having to take it apart - not an easy task. The darn rope that cranks it open had snapped. We re-ran a new rope up and attached it but it can't fully extend because of how it is manufactured. I thought I was buying quality with the Frontgate name. Nope, I was just paying more. These umbrellas were only outside 4 months of the year. And they couldn't withstand that! I could have done better buying a cheap umbrella from a hardware store every year than buying this junk. Totally not worth the money. Frontgate service is great; products - I'm not so sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made in the Shade with this Gorgeous Umbrella This is the perfect umbrella for lounging around in, but out of, the sun all day. The tilt options that allow you to follow the sun angles are fantastic, and it is a beautiful design. Mine is Melon and is gorgeous!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Product This is a beautifully designed and constructed piece. it has a very simple and clean looking mechanism and the finish is a very nice grey metallic. perhaps most importantly is that it is very easy to open/close and manipulate into its many different angles. For the money this is a very good quality umbrella of the unique cantilever design type

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what the Doc ordered I purchased this umbrella and stand last spring to put in a very windy location and kept my fingers crossed. It has been perfect - no issues blowing over. Easy to set up and use. Would recommend to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful! The base was easy to put together and fill and the unit seems quite sturdy. The umbrella moves up and down with little effort. It provides plenty of shade over the 2 chaise lounges that it covers. The color looks great with my pool furniture. Highly recommend!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Attractive but not as sturdy as other umbrellas This is the only cantilever umbrella that I could find that would fit under the screen cage over my pool. In the case of our pool area, the height over the deck, where the base would sit, is only 8 feet and 3 inches, which excludes most other cantilever umbrellas, which are usually 9 or 10 feet in height. For the price, this one doesn't impress me, but, it looks nice and fits our height limitations.

Winter storage

Hi, I live in the NorthEast and plan to buy a seperate durable cover for this umbrella - can I leave the umbrella out in the winter, covered from the elements? I'm concerned about mildew on the canopy and rust on the frame/cantilever/base. Are these treated?
Asked by: Phil212
Thank you for your interest in the Poolside Cantilever Umbrella. We do recommend storing this umbrella in a dry place away from frost during the winter.

Can the umbrella tilt to a vertical position? If not, how close to vertical?

We're trying to block the view of neighbors whose vantage point is a little higher than our location but the view from their home is directly toward our sunning area.
Asked by: RelaxedLake
It could almost be opened vertically. I'd say maybe 60-75 degrees. But I wouldn't recommend it on even a slightly windy day. If a gust caught the umbrella at the right angle it may shift the umbrella a bit.

Can you please explain how the umbrella is raised/lowered aka open/closed?

Asked by: MLawrence
There is a handle on the pole of the base that you must squeeze and pull up the length of the pole. Once that is raised you crank an arm clockwise or counter clockwise to open or close the umbrella.

Cantilever umbrella cord broken

The cord to our umbrella is broken - how do we repair it?
Asked by: hkihneman
Oh wow. Ours broke this summer too. What a pain to repair! We had to buy a new rope and run it through the arm. We were not able to attach the cone like plastic piece that engaged at the end of the rope because it would not fit with a knot on the new rope.

Can the Canopy be unzipped and stored during off season?

Asked by: shree
No it can't. You can remove the gray plastic base from the frame and then store it. See my review if you'd like to know what I think of this umbrella.

Is the base included with the umbrella. Are there any additional items that are needed to be purchased with this umbrella? Thanks

Asked by: JudithJ
Thank you for your interest in the Poolside Cantilever Umbrella. The base does come with this umbrella. The base will need to be filled with sand and water or pea gravel which is not included.
