Solid and beautiful craftsmanship.
We replaced hardware store brand patio oil lamps with these torches and what a lovely upgrade it proved to be. These torches are sturdy and have a quality look about them. The lamp insert has a flat bottom, which makes it very easy to refill. It also has a large oil capacity. The set comes with its own funnel for filling with oil.

Great Torches
We have had these torches for 5 years. They have been phenomenal and offer such ambience to your home. Today they are as beautiful as when we bought them. We have 10 and the best way to preserve is store them in the inside out of the cold weather in the winter if you are in a climate that has snow.

Some advice on these beautiful torches
These are VERY HIGH QUALITY and add a lot of drama and elegance to any patio. I purchased my set of 4 about 5 years ago and have kept them outdoors all year long (and during winters in the Northeast) w/no degradation in appearance. However, you should empty them when the season is over since the copper bowls will eventually develop small perforations from the sitting citronella oil - as I just discovered happened to 2 of my lamps over the years. The oil also damaged the bushes beneath the lamps since the soil was contaminated by the dripping oil over the fall/winter. I now need to repurchase the whole set since the style has changed somewhat. Also, a few hints: 1: To keep them straight in the soil, pound a 10" metal pipe into the ground that you can get from Home Depot or any other hardware store and slide the pole into the pipe - joila! Just take one of the poles with you to the store to get the right diameter. 2) Eventually, the black pole and scroll work will look a little gray but will blacken right up with mineral oil. Good luck!

reply to... ouch
In response to the previous posting... many ouches..... I guess the deployment of the torches depends on your soil. I was able to press it deep into the ground with just my hands and body weight. Of course, I am very manly and strong. (probably would have taken me 3 strikes with the rubber mallet.)
Granted, I live in the very dry climate of Colorado, and do not have the same rain as seen in the South, but it is our rainy month and has rained every day since I last lit the torches a week ago, and last night they lit without any problem and did not sputter or go out.
I have been using citronella torch fuel, not the recommended lamp oil. I have not had any problems other than there is a bit of black soot that needs wiping away after uses to maintain the luster of the copper. I don't know if that is the concern about using the lamp oil instead of alternate outdoor torch fuels.
Have been very happy with the product and have recommended it to others.

All but one
I ordered 2 Regent torches & 2 bases. One of the 2 bases was not level & I had to return for another one. This inconvenience could have bee prevented w/ tighter warehouse quality control!! I hope the replacement base will be level. Overall appearance is beautiful.

Regent Copper Torches
These torches are absolutely beautiful and are an elegant addition to our landscape. The only issue I have seen in the short time I have owned them is that it appears they may not seal sufficiently to prevent rain from entering, thereby ruining the wick and preventing the torch from lighting. Others have reported this as well. I suppose I could bring them inside after every use, but that shouldn't be necessary, especially considering the premium cost of these torches. I was also very disappointed that although the product description says that a base is available that is no longer the case. I would hate to have to return them but will keep monitoring the issue about water entry...

Looks beautiful but protect them from heavy rains
I purchased a set of the torches about 5 years ago and they look great. However, I've had 2 issues that I would like to see the manufacturer rectify:
1.) In my case, the hollow iron stakes eventually filled up with water and when I pulled them out of the ground, rusty water covered my shoes, ruining them. ( I actually did this twice in 2 years so I obviously didn't learn from the first episode.) Out of frustration, I finally threw away the stakes thinking I could order new ones. Unfortunately, I learned that I have to re-purchase the entire set.
2.) Also, after a heavy rain, water somehow gets into the reservoir causing the flames to sputter and go out. I end up having to have to dump out all of the paraffin and start over. I've made sure the top where the wick is located is securely screwed into the reservoir. And I always keep the "snuffer" top on the torches when not in use to protect it from rain.
These torches look great and create a wonderful ambience so I do recommend them. I'm probably the only person that has had the above-mentioned issues. But I would just take the extra step of removing them from heavy rains if you know they are coming.

Advantages of paraffin oil?
Thank you for your interest in the Regent Copper Torches, Set of Two. The advantages of paraffin oil is it has a higher flash point than gasoline making it less flammable and easier to store. It has lower heat and it does not release much smoke.

I ordered 2 Regent Torches and also ordered the optional base listed on the same page online, under the "Related" category. When received, the base round opening doesn't match the square pole and you can't insert the pole at all. What's up?
Thank you for your interest in the Regent Torches. We apologize, but the base for these torches is no longer available. The available Torch Base is designed for our Pineapple Torch. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Can you buy replacement wicks for these torches?
Thank you for your interest in the Regent Torches. We do not currently offer replacement wicks specifically for these torches. However, our Pineapple Torch Replacement Wicks, Set of Two (item 63550) will fit the Regent Torches but do have a slightly different finish.

I bought Front Gate torches (bronze pineapple) and filled them with citrunella oil. They burned perfectly. After they burned out I refilled with same oil and they will not relight.
Thank you for your interest in the Regent Torches. The manufacturer recommends only using pure paraffin oil not citronella oil. That could be why these are not working.

Can I just buy the reservoir
Thank you for your interest in the Regent Torches. The reservoirs are not available separately; however, if you need parts for a torch you already have, please contact our customer service at 1-888-263-9850 or service@frontgate.com.
