Retractable Hose Reel Post is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great but only for a while I bought 3 of these when they were 95.00 each. I was thrilled not to have to coil hoses all the time. I take these in every winter so they are not abused. So I put them out this spring and two of them will no longer recoil. These things are only 2 years old. What a waste of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hose reel great item, only issue; i have an older model and lost the mounting bracket. new bracket doesn't fit the old model, bummer. cant find a replacement bracket anywhere to replace the one i lost,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Holes don't line up. The holes in the bracket don't line up with the holes in the post and it isn't even close. Drilling required. Should have checked the line-up before concreting the post into the ground.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible design The holes don’t line up right and the bolts are too short
Date published: 2020-04-11
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Poor mating with hose reel. Like other reviews, I too had a problem with poor mating with the hose reel. The holes do not align and drilling out the holes in the hose reel were required.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Holes do not line up, one hole was not threaded I bought this as I have hose reels and liked them in the self-winding mode. The post however as the other reviews note is not well made in terms of the hole to mount the reel on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mounting post for hose reel Post makes the hose reel installation easy. Frontgate continues to offer great products!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Read Reviews Like everyone else, the retraction of the reel starts to fail around a year. Guess we were lucky and got almost 4 years out of ours. Disappointing from a Frontgate product. Retraction spring failed. Not repairable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Older version was easier to install I gave this a poor rating only because they have changed the bolts that hold the hose base onto the reel bracket. It’s extremely difficult to get any tool to fit between the bolt and hose base to screw it in. We bought two of these because we love the older version, and we could not get all four bolts secured into either one of the brackets. The bolts should be a little longer and/or the plastic center part of the base around the bolt openings should not pultrude so close to it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult to mount the reel. After reading about the difficulty others had with the threaded bolts, I would have thought Frontgate would have taken care of the problem. They have not. If you order this, test the bolts before sinking the post in concrete. I had to bore out the plastic on one post to get the bolts to line up. On my other, I still can't get two of the bolts in. What should take minutes, takes hours. Not sure how I will fix this as it is in the ground.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leaks and wont roll up after one year This hose was replaced three times by frontgate, they all leaked and wouldn't roll up. Now I see they reduced the price. Even at this price the product is not worth it. Its flawed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY Hose reel instruction tell you to mount 30+ inches off the ground, but post puts it 2 feet lower. Pain in the neck to use. If it weren't set in concrete I'd return it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality Installed two posts in my yard. Impressive materials and strength. Professional looks. Only issue I had on both posts was the hose reel bracket holes didn’t line up exactly with the threaded holes in the post. I had to bore larger holes in the plastic bracket in order to screw all 4 bolts into the post.
Date published: 2019-05-22
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I took over an hour to bolt the bracket to the post because the mounting plate was bent, the tapping was poor, and the holes on the post did not line up to those on the bracket. You’re better off using a 4x4. You’ll spend less time cutting and painting a piece of wood than you will battling the poor construction of this post. If you do buy this, add vice, hammer, drill, and tapping set to the list of required tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality product Makes watering etc so much easier. This is our second hose of this model from Frontgate. We had the first one for 12 years and was still in great shape when we moved house. Ordered another for our new home as we couldn't live without it!! High quality, durable product .....we would highly recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor design I didn't realize how low to the ground the hose reel is once mounted. I have to bend over to pull the hose. Terribly awkward. Also, it's nearly impossible to get to the bolt heads to tighten them because the shoulders are in the way. If it wasn't already sunk in concrete I'd return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hose Reel Post Bolt Pattern Could not get vertical holes on mounting bracket to line up with post holes. I had to drill out the hose reel mounting bracket holes to 3/8" in order to get all 4 bolts to align
Date published: 2018-05-27
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Podercoat issue After mounting the post, I discovered that the tapped holes had not been protected during the powder-coating process. This made it impossible to secure the hose reel support. I had to buy an m8 tap to clear the threads. The second post wasn't quite as bad as the first, but this problem should have been caught in quality control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hose reel post this is the third one I bought, I like that it is marked how deep it goes into the ground no measuring and is well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a MUST The hubby wouldn't let me attach the hose reel to the siding, this option works perfectly!
Date published: 2017-10-28
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor design yet sturdy I was slightly surprised to see that the post needs concrete. More importantly, the post is "threaded" for four bolts that attach the hose reel bracket to the post, except the threads are terrible and it's next to impossible to get the bolts started in a way that doesn't rip off threads. I ended up buying longer bolts and hammering them in to get them started then levitating a nut behind the threaded portion to get the bolts to hold. Nonetheless, now that it's done, it seems solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sturdy post the post seems sturdy and durable. The hose reels are still backordered, so haven't been able to really test the complete assembly. High quality though,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as pictured Complete miss match I am very disappointed when I received the order and went to install this. I ordered 2 hose reels and 2 mounting posts. i chose this product for the clean look and the color which matches the exterior color of my home. The mounting posts are brown ( as pictured) but the hose reels them selves are grey in color and do not resemble the photo at all. At this point i am considering shipping them all back to the company for a full refund because the price i paid for these is not worth it now that the items do not match. I spoke to the customer service area and it was confirmed that the vendor changed colors but the photo was not updated. Very Frustrated

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hose Reel Post not as advertised I hesitated to buy the post as no pictures or words describe how it sits in the ground. I trusted Frontgate would provide a suitable anchor. Instead, the instructions say to pour concrete to below the frost line and stick the post in the concrete. As I have never had a hose reel last forever, this is not an option. The description says the hose reel sits 4' above the ground. The post is less than 4' and you are instructed to sink 2' of it into the concrete. I will find an alternative for mounting the hose reel (my second purchased). The reel is great. Not so much the post.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No instruction on hose reel post The hose reel post is a great means of attaching the retractable hose reel. However it comes without instructions as to its installation. We guessed it requires a post hole and a concrete base so that what we did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hose reel The diameter of the hose is small and barely puts out enough pressure to water area. needed to move hose 3 times to do same area with wider diameter hose. Looks great but I think I have to return it. Just not efficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hose reel I liked the first one I bought so much I just bought another one. The only thing I would change is I would make it 110 feet instead of 100 - but you can't have everything. I have introduced it to all my garden frineds and neighbors. It works great and my yard looks so much neater because I am never too tired to just reel it in for the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Retractable Hose I purchased my husband the retractable hose for Father's Day. With the hot summer we have to hand water many areas in the yard. Little did I know how much I would love it. I don't mind the job since dealing with the heavy hose is no longer an issue. So his gift was the hose and me using it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific product We had been searching for a retractable hose reel for quite a long time. No success until I came across an ad in the newspaper advertising the Frontgate hose reel. I took a chance and ordered it. It came quickly. We used it and were tremendously satisfied-so much so, that I ordered another of the same for my daughter. She cannot wait to use it.

Recent reviews still say that the holes on the Hose Reel do not line up with the holes on the Post, and new ones need to be drilled. Has this been fixed yet? This is pretty critical for mounting!

Asked by: JenPrestrud
Just received 7/2020 and while the holes line up, imperfections on the post or the screws prevent you from being able to actually screw the bracket onto the post.
