Is this suitable for outdoor use?
I'm looking for an outdoor door mat for our front door. We live in Minnesota so we experience a wide variety of weather conditions.
Absolutely. We purposely bought this rug, a dark brown 3' by 5' (appx size) for the front door that has no protection from the elements. It's weathered a recent really heavy rain storm beautifully. It also responds to being cleaned by a vacuum if you lay it inside. Don't know about outside as we've only hosed it. We bought a second rug for another outside location but instead kept it for inside the slider in our family room. I bought a similar rug years ago from Eddie Bauer but it can't compare to this fantastic dirt catcher.

Would this mat be suitable for an outdoor porch area leading from a pool into the house?
The area will get wet from pool water dripping, wet feet and wet dogs. Would the mat be safe to use for such an application? If not, can you recommend an alternative?
It absorbs a lot of snow water. It's a good strong carpet. We put our snow boots with snow on this carpet & the water does not go through it.

It's very, very strong & durable. Not thick, but will not fit under a door.

Love my door mats!
I really love these Water & Dirt Shield door mats. I bought one probably ten year's ago, I think, and it still looks new. I purchased two more this spring, and they are so attractive, classy, and very efficient in grabbing dirt from our shoes without looking the least bit worn out. Best mats I've ever seen!!

Unique as well as functional
We live in wooden house in a tree filled neighborhood and this mat continues the theme as visitors enter our house. We enjoy the uniqueness of the mat and we also appreciate how well it does at catching leaves as people enter, and how easy it is to vacuum them clean.
