Host the Perfect Spring Event

Spring’s longer days and warmer temperatures beckon like an old friend. And suddenly – as if we’ve been in hibernation all winter – neighbors and friends emerge ready to celebrate the season. If spring fever isn’t excuse enough to entertain, the calendar certainly gives plenty of reasons: Mothers. Brides. Grads. And more.

Before you plan your Easter egg hunt or Mother’s Day brunch, we offer a few tips for hosting a fabulous garden gathering.

Invite movement

Multiple conversation areas encourage mixing and mingling. For a larger party, you easily can expand your existing seating with temporary furnishings. So, if you already have an outdoor sofa and lounge chairs, augment that space with a few folding tables and stacking chairs, which easily store away when not in use.

Keep guests moving throughout the event by dispersing the food and drink stations. Drink stations allow guests to serve themselves, freeing you up to be social. And nothing says “party” more than a beverage tub loaded with craft beers, sparkling waters and wines.

Decorate

naturally

Decorating in spring is easy if you draw upon the season’s bounty. Flank the entry and line the terrace with planters and urns overflowing with annuals and topiary. Set vases brimming with fresh-cut tulips on side tables. Use sprigs of mint and bowls full of lemons as an accents on the beverage table.

Even the tabletops can burst with nature's beauty. A hand-beaded floral table runner is a magnificent start - stunning yet oh so very simple. Dragonfly napkin rings are a playful touch at each place setting. Pull out one of the colors for the rest of tabletop accents – placemats, candles and linens.

Keep it

bright & warm

Chilly breezes are part of spring, but don’t let them put a damper on your party. If you event is in the evening, torches and hurricane lanterns impart a golden glow with their ambient light. Even during the day, a fire table will imbue any seating area with physical and aesthetic warmth, while a powerful patio heater will give cool temperatures the cold shoulder.

With the right set-up, it’s an cinch to host a naturally elegant garden party.
